It was an hour before the party and Millie was panicking. She felt like she had nothing organised, even though pretty much every place was decorated, and she thought the party would suck, even though she had Finn to help her."Millie about last night—" Finn started.
"Yeah, tell me later. Is the food and drinks ready?" Millie said circling around the house for any finishing touches, while dragging Finn along.
"Yes, your parents aren't coming back until Monday and the servants think that your parents planned this,"
"Okay good. Now, how do I look?" She turned around to face him. She was wearing a short black plaid dress and it's sleeves were string tied together, then she wore a white t-shirt underneath. She looked stylish and very, very pretty to Finn.
"You look great, Millie. There's nothing to worry about." He reassured her. "Where am I working though? Kitchen or server?" For a moment she laughed.
"You're not going to be a servant at this party, Finn! You're going to be a guest! I'll just tell them you go to another school or something." She said. "Now go change already!"
"But what about Sadie? Was she invited?" Instead, she stood silent. Applying more mascara on her face.
"Nope. We're not friends anymore. If she shows up, ignore her."7:30
It was just Millie and Finn and she honestly didn't expect for anyone to show up. Over five minutes have passed and nobody had been there, but she was fine with it as it would just be her and Finn, until multiple knocks were heard at the door.Finn turned on the speakers and music started to blast. Millie opened the door and loads of sweaty teens came pouring in, including Maya and her group of friends. Immediately, people starting dishing out alcohol that they had brought and started dancing to the music. The whole grade must have been there because everywhere she turned and every room she entered, there was barely any space to walk around.
In an instant, she lost Finn and couldn't find him anywhere. The place was so crowded and so loud, anytime she'd shout for him her voice would just be apart of the loud talking, shouts and music. She got tired of this pretty quickly and took a seat in the kitchen. The sink was running and the floor was so sticky, when she tried to sit by the counter table, the place reeked of alcohol. When she went back into the living room where the music was playing and there were more people, she felt a hand grab her.
"Hey Millie, this party is actually not- not bad," Maya stammered. Her breath stank of alcohol and beer. "Come and play truth or dare with us, we found your little boyfriend!" She took her hand, her dragged her to the sofas where people were casually kissing. They pushed her down into a seat, across Finn and they started playing. The girl with short black hair, the girl with blonde hair, a girl with long brown hair, a girl with blue eyes, all of Maya's friends were there.
"I told you, I don't want to play truth or dare. This isn't kindergarten or some shit." Finn said.
"Yeah well, not the way we play it." A girl with blue eyes spoke before laughing hysterically. They were all sat in a circle then Maya pointed to a girl next to her.
"Truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Okay then." Maya put a two beers in front of her. "Chug this down in a minute, just like water." The girl with blue eyes took one of the beers and opened it.
"Start the timer." Then she started to down the drink down, taking aggressive gulps. People around them started to chant 'chug' as she was halfway down the first can. Another minute went by and she finally finished the second can of beer.
"Great job, Ryla!" Maya shouted loudly, "But not good enough!" The timer read, 2m39seconds and the girl with blue eyes sighed. Shot glasses were given to everyone as Maya filled them with vodka. Everyone except Finn and Millie drank theirs in a seconds and had another shot after another."What's up with you?" Maya asked, looking at her weirdly.
"I don't drink and never will." Millie said coldly.
"Tonight is the night then!" She put another shot glass in front of her. "I have a dare for you, Millie brown. I dare you to drink half of this bottle or go make out with Felix Smith over there," She pointed to a big shirtless sweaty boy, dancing around while drinking a beer that was streaming down his face. "Come on Millie. We don't have all day." Maya said impatiently.
"Millie no— don't do it!" Finn said, with eyes going wide.
"Unless you wanna do it for me, go ahead, nobody's stoping you." Millie replied back before colliding the bottle to her lips. The drink was bitter and it burned her throat and it was really spicy. She coughed and sputtered as she realised she had downed a whole bottle in under a minute. Everyone cheered around her.
"Holy shit, you just broke a record!" The side- affects, hit her immediately her when she stood up. She looked around, dazed and dizzy and her vision was going blurry and double. She walked out of there and into the kitchen and Finn followed her."Millie what the hell was that? I told you no," He was frustrated, really mad at her.
"Yeah well, it's not like- like— you were care! You-You don't need too, cause you don't— your not- not my parents..." Her speech sounded slurred and she stumbled over a lot. "Can you pass a-a cup..." she sounded tired but started to laugh.
"Millie, you don't need another drink. You just had a whole bottle!" When he got a cup he started to fill it up with water. And passed it to her. "Drink it." She pushed the cup away but Finn kept trying to give it to her. "Millie you're not thinking straight, so just drink the water it'll help—"
"No, I-I don't want the water. Get the water out of here! Fuck water, man..." The water jerked and got all over them. "Bad water..." she said before losing her balance and falling into Finns arms, then she started to laugh loudly. He helped her to her room and she hopelessly fall into her velvet sofa. Finn passed her a towel as he sat down next to her.
"When exactly does this party stop Millie? I'm getting a headache." She laughed more and said.
"The party never ends, Finn. Time just keeps passing and that's how it goes. They get old and die in my own house Finn." Millie stood up and said. "I'm gonna drink some water." Finn sighed and scoffed as he watched her from the bathroom drinking water.
"You know, everyone is gonna know about this night when you go to school. Remember that as one of the party rules."
"Oh no, my face is gonna be on the Eiffel Tower won't it?" She said and started crying.
"What no?" Finn started laughing. "I mean, just in school. Unless your parents find out."
"My parents will NOT be finding out. It will be the end of me." She said drinking more water. "Finn. Before the party started, you were going to tell me something, but I cut I-it off...what-what was it?" He sighed and looked down.
"It was about nothing. You don't need to think about it now.""It was about last night wasn't it," she looked up at him and for the first time, her speech wasn't slurred. Finn furrowed his eyebrows.
"What? No! Why would it be about last night? Nothing even happened!"
"You told me you really liked me," she said in between gulps of water. "You told me we couldn't be just f-friends. I think I know what it means now." She wiped her mouth dry with a towel beside her.
"O-okay. What does it mean then?"Millie put her hand on Finns cheek, stroking it with her thumb. Then a hand on his neck. She went up on her tippy toes so that she was at the same height of Finns and then she just waited. The only sound, was there breathing as Millie twirled her finger around one of Finns curls.
"You're drunk. You are not thinking." Finn said, stroking Millie's hair.
"I am drunk. But I'm still thinking." She smiled softly before closing her lips around Finns and kissing him softly, his lips were warm and soft. Finn couldn't even close his eyes as he didn't understand what was happening but when he did close his eyes, he slowly melted into the kiss. His hands fell around her waist as he slowly tightened the grip more. They stopped only for breathes of air as their kisses sped up in pace. Her hands were now both around his face on both sides of his soft cheeks, pulling him in for more deep kisses. She pulled away, breathlessly as if she has been kissing him for hours. She felt like nothing before, like she was floating. She felt a funny feeling in her stomach and her knees felt weak. Finns arms were still around her waist as she held them, tightly.
"After that, we can't be just friends." Millie whispered before collapsing into his arms, falling asleep.
He carried her to her bed and removed her shoes, covering her with the blanket, carefully tucking her in...
That was SUCH a nice chapter to write and really fun tbh. But THANK YOU for reading 'Never meant to be,' and I hope you really enjoyed this chapter. This will be probably the most favourites out of ALL books I've written. GG to me ;)..
