A few hours later.
Everyone had already left the palace and Millie's parents went to go drop her siblings off at the airport. So again it was just Millie and the servants, including Finn.

They met in the private library and she saw him sitting in one corner reading a book. She pulled another seat across from him and sat down.
"Great dinner tonight wasn't it?" He was still glued to the book but for a second he pulled his gaze from it and looked at Millie. She looked drained, and didn't respond. "Tell me what happened then," he put the book down and focused on only Millie.
"I told you not to take his plate. Why did you take it?"
"Well I didn't because you smashed it onto the floor before I could." He softly laughed and she too smiled.
"I don't think I can go to you're house again, I'm too sore to move." She looked very uncomfortable sitting down and looked like she was always in pain.
"I could always carry you there?" He smiled. "What did he do to you?" She showed him her arms and hands and they were so red and sore. Her arm had a mark on it from where her dad had dragged her out and it was starting to bruise.
"Holy shit.." he said slowly looking at her hand intently. He carefully held her hand, making circles on her palm with his thumb. He looked up at her and saw she was smiling so he smiled too and turned red.
"He thinks I'm a disappointment. He said it to me." She said coldly with no emotion.
"I don't think that- I don't anyone should think that. You are a lovely person. You remember that and don't let anybody's words get to you." He said it with passion and gazed her, this time none of them broke eye contact.
"Yeah well, I don't need you to tell me that. I already know," This time she smiled with him and Finn held her hand with both hands.

"Millie," he said at first. "I don't think we could be, just friends." The grip around his hand loomed tighter.
"Okay..." she said unsurely. "So you want to be best friends?" He scoffed then smiled.
"No...I just," he sighed. "I just haven't felt this way about someone in a long time. Not ever actually. There's something really special about you Millie, and I don't wanna loose you to some lawyer. And...I know that I'm poor and I might not be able to give you all these fancy gifts that a lawyer might be able to give you but, I really like you, Millie brown."

"That's such a nice thing to say Finn," The sound of a car, pulled up in a drive way and the headlights ran through the windows. "You know, I always thought you were better then a differ." She smiled and pulled him into a hug which lasted long but then she pulled away. "Make sure you bring those mixtapes. Don't forgot, big party tomorrow!" She then ran out the room and left Finn standing there, quite shocked and confused. Did he just get friend-zoned or did she not understand what he was trying to say. Maybe she would've understood in French or maybe she heard everything and still felt nothing to him.

Thank you for reading 'Never meant to be,' I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
Sorry this is a little short but, I thought it wouldn't fit in quite nicely into the next chapter cause THAT is a whole other story.
