Finally, while looking in the mirror, he promised himself that he would not give up and find the real culprit no matter what happens.
'Jodha, I will prove to the world that you are innocent and wash this devilish blame from your head. This is the toughest war of our lives, and I can't afford to lose this war; I will fight; I will fight until the end. As per your wish, no one will see Jalal's inner turmoil. I will gulp my tears and smile.'
Jalal, with the letter, walked in Maham's chamber without any announcement. Maham was sitting on the couch with closed eyes; she had a sly wicked smile on her face. He was familiar with this gesture; after every big victory or kill, she always rested like this.
Chapter 33 Part 2
Jalal, with a very calm tone, said, "Badi Ammi."
Maham awoke with shock after hearing the sound of Jalal. He noticed a sudden change in her expression. She vainly tried to hide her happiness from him.
Jalal slyly grinned at her and pointed out, "Badi Ammi, after many days, your face is glowing and shining today; I am glad to see deep peace and satisfaction on your face."
Maham realized that Jalal read her face and hidden happiness. To hide her emotions from him, she continued in a fake sad tone, "When my child is in grief, how can I stay happy?"
Jalal responded with a genuine tone, "You are right, Badi Ammi; I have no one left in this palace other than you, who I can count on and trust. I have one request from you."
Maham with relief, "Yes, Jalal... tell me."
Although he could sense her fake sympathy, he curbed his anger and continued in an emotional tone, "Badi Ammi, Queen Jodha has left this letter for me. Can you please read it for me? I don't want anyone else to read this; other than you, I don't trust anyone."
An evil smirk smeared through her lips, she took the letter and began to read. Jalal pretended with different sentiments on every word. At the same time, reading, she stopped for a few seconds and looked at Jalal hesitantly; her expression changed when Jodha mentioned her plan, her face turned pale, and she seemed very nervous. Cleverly, she skipped the whole part about her conspiracy and ended the letter with Junglee Billi.
He instantly could read her face that she was the one who is the culprit. His broken heart shattered once again. Deep down, he had hope that she might be innocent. Now there was no doubt left; it was crystal clear, his heart and mind both accepted that she is a murderer of his unborn child and a killer of his dreams; because of her, he is separated from Jodha. His warrior blood was boiling inside. Still, on the contrary, he kept his mind balanced and downright calm. He wanted to prove Jodha's innocence and wanted to catch Maham with proof, red-handed.
Jalal curbed his anger and requested Maham to read that letter for him once again. This time she sounded much more nervous than before; while reading, she fumbled a few times. It was clearly showing from her actions that she was hiding something. She again skipped the part about her scheme which Jodha wrote.
While Maham read the letter, Jalal was thinking about the beautiful moments he spent with his Badi Ammi, How she was running behind him to feed. How she saved his life took a sword on her chest. How she taught him about politics, How she felt happy with his every victory, gradually his anger melted into pain. By the time Maham finished rereading the letter, his eyes were filled with immense sorrow and pain; he sensed millions of thorns stabbing on his heart. Badi Ammi's betrayal was unbearable for him. He trusted very few people in his life. Finally, his vulnerable eyes dripped from the corner. His eyes staring at Maham and screaming out loud while asking Why Badi ammi? Why?
