A/N (Author Noodle):
In the image above, you might read that my OC, Rei, is often seen with her cat, Floppy. I just want to note that he will not make an appearance until chapter 11. Excuse the inconsistent face/head shape. Also, I forgot to color her eyes brown in the full body image used.
________________'Okay, Rei. Focus. You can do this. The 50-meter dash is nothing. You've run plenty before, from your problems, bullies, reality... from practically everything. You've trained almost every single day for the past several years with Katsuki. Just breathe.'
The blonde watched as some of her classmates started the first test. The dark haired boy with glasses was hella fast. She was amazed by everyone's Quirks, even the invisible girl's.
Her brother and his number one enemy, broccoli, haven't gone yet, but it was the nervous girl's turn. She didn't want to use her Quirk just yet, nor at all, really. She was going to focus on doing her very best without her power for help.
"Get ready, get set, go!"
Rei took off, pushing off with one foot and preparing to do the same with the other, making her legs work as hard as possible.
She was a but disappointed in herself when she heard she got 5.43 seconds. She knew she could have done better.
She zoned out before she heard her brother's score, an amazing 4.13 seconds. She was extremely proud and happy for him, and also for the innocent green haired boy who scored 7.02 seconds.
Next was the Grip Strength. It made her nervous, too. She didn't have big muscle-y muscles. No matter how hard she tried in her free time during the all summer, she barely made as much progress as her brother.
Don't get her wrong, she was ecstatic that he was doing so well. She just wished that she could maybe be like him, or that he could just not be as great as he was and allow her to catch up to his level. She hated being second best to him all the time.
Sure, their grades were sometimes the exact same, and sometimes she did better, but he succeeded in everything else. He managed to become more than her with confidence, popularity, and power.
She did only a little better than Midoriya, getting 60kg. It went on like this, her anxiety and self-doubt trying to get the test of her, and avoiding the use of her Quirk.
She did very well even without her super ability, which impressed her teacher, though she didn't notice it. She paid no mind to his nor most of her classmates' dumbfounded and astonished expressions. Her eyes were practically glued to the floor, and her ears were filled with awfully encouraging thoughts.
'If you can't even manage throwing a ball, you'll never be a hero. You have to do this.'
"70 meters"
'I'm going to be expelled on day one, aren't I?'
She quietly went back to the crowd of students, keeping her distance to avoid conversing with anyone there.
Finally, it was broccoli's turn. He seemed nervous, and it made Rei worry. She hoped he did well, and that he wouldn't be expelled.
Then she was surprised when the teacher erased his Quirk, whatever it was. Aizawa seemed frustrated with him, for some reason. Finally, he have him his power back, as well as another chance.
"705.3 meters"
'Holy shit, he did fantastic! He even scored higher than Katsuki by 0.1 meter... oh no, Kat's not going to handle this very well.'
And sure enough, he didn't. He screamed profanity while he ran towards the innocent vegetable before he was captured by Aizawa's quite fabulous scarf.
"Don't keep making me use my Quirk over and over," started the intimidating man. "We're wasting time. Whoever's next, get ready."
'Why can't Kat ever just chill?'
The boy in question was already released from the hero's strange material, and Midoriya went back to the people Rei assumed were his friends, then asking if he was alright.
The introvert cautiously approached her brother and softly spoke.
"You should probably learn to contain your emotions. I wouldn't want to have to explain to mom and dad one day how and why you're in jail for killing Inko's son."
The boy's face twitched with rage, and his hands still clenched. Still, he managed to calm himself enough to not accidentally explode.
"Yeah, because I would actually do that," his red eyes rolled, sarcasm evident in his voice.
"Well, you do threaten him every opportunity you have. Also, your catchphrase is 'die,' so..."
"And your point is?!"
"You seriously need to calm down. You're going to freak everyone out," gulped Rei.
She never admitted to anyone that she was actually terrified of him just as much as everyone else, if not more. He had a terrifying tendency to raise his voice, use his Quirk, and threaten everybody around him.
"Let them," his nose twitched. "Who cares what everyone thinks. I'm going to be number one, just you wait. Then—"
"Then what? You'll brag?"
"Maybe I will. Who cares? I'm going to be at the top, and everyone will look up to me. Everyone will see how awesome I am, and all the villains will cower at my power."
"Whatever you say, Kat. Just don't kill any innocents while you're getting there."
