Kiri seemed to be the main one excited at the announcement of the sports festival coming up, while everyone else was furious for letting the teacher scare them.
"Why would you scare us like that?"
"The Sports Festival!"
"Let's go kick some ass!"
"Wait a second—" Denki held Kiri's face back.
"Is it really such a good idea to hold the sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?"
"They could attack once we're all in the same place," the tail guy continued after Jiro.
The homeroom teacher went on to say how the administration thought the tournament would show everyone that threat was taken care of and the school was fine. The event was apparently a huge opportunity for every student at UA, and it was a big deal in the country. It only came once a year, for only three years of a student's time at the school.
"Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show that the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever. Plus, they're beefing up security compared to past years. This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains. Our sports festival is one of the most watched events in the entire worlds. In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic games. But then Quirks started appearing. Now, the Olympics have been drastically reduced in terms of s ale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters. The UA Sports Festival."
"That's right! And top heroes everywhere will be watching. This is where you get scouted."
"She's right. After graduating, a lot of people join pro agencies as a sidekick."
"Yeah, but that's as far as some people go. They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks. Actually, that's probably where you're headed. You're kinda dumb," Jiro said to Denki, making him sulk a little.
"It's true that joining a hero agency can garner you greater experience and popularity. That's why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, then this event could open the path for you. One chance a year. Three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this festival. That means you better not slack off on your training."
"Yes sir!"
"Class is dismissed."

Rei was pumped for the tournament, as was everyone else. Uraraka went a bit psycho saying she was going to do her best, and kinda freaked people out. Right now, the oldest girl in Class 1-A had to focus on eating her soba and staying hydrated.
"So, now that Floppy and I are acquainted—"
"meow"
"Let's talk about the upcoming tournament," Hitoshi said before taking another bite out of his own food.
"I can't wait to compete! It's going to be so fun kicking everyone's ass," the girl grinned.
"But not mine, of course. Right...?"
"Well, I'd do it if I have to," she stated before continuing to eat her food. Soba was the bomb, and no one would convince her otherwise.
"Well, okay. I'll give you that. I'm hoping I'll do well enough to be transferred to a different class, hopefully yours."
"I hope you do— no, wait, of course you'll do great! With your Quirk and talent combined, your bound to be in the hero course. If not, then someone's going to get murdered."
Out of the corner of her eyes, the blonde saw a certain classmate of hers eating the same thing she was. She would have to talk to Todoroki sometime, maybe invite to her table for lunch? He ate soba, so he had to be cool.
"Woah, there! I admire your friendship, but there's no need to be gruesome."
"Right, sorry," flushed Rei. She was way too used to having her brother for company.
"Oh, before I forget... I heard about what happened to your class yesterday. I'm not going to lie, I got worried about you."
"Aww, you care!"
"Shut up," the guy playfully rolled his eyes.
"Never," she grinned. "Besides, I was face to face with the main villain in charge there. He tried to kill me, ya know? But he stood no chance against me, since his quirk required physical touch, while mine could get him from a distance. Plus, I vomited on his shoes. That was the biggest highlight of that day."
"I can't believe you vomited on him. Classic."
"Yeah, even Aizawa Sensei got a kick out of that. It took a while after everything calmed down, but he laughed."
"I can't believe my dad laughed..."
"Wait what— your dad?"
"Uh, yeah..." the boy nervously scratched his head. He wasn't sure what she would think of his parent being not just a teacher at their school, but her homeroom teacher.
"That is so cool!"
The purplet snickered a bit, not expecting that reaction from his best friend. He should have known she would be ecstatic about her favorite hero being his dad.
"Is he really okay? You know, with his elbow? He said he was fine both today and yesterday, but I don't know if he's just trying to make everyone stop worrying about him."
"Don't worry about him, Rei. He is stronger than you know," he assured. It was true, as the boy had once seen his father lift their couch to get one of their cats out of there.
Aizawa-Sensei should definitely be the least of the girl's worries. There was more awaiting at the sports festival than she could imagine.
