When everyone heard about the marriage proposal, they'd applauded the two on their wedding day and the newly wed couple went on their honeymoon. In the mean time Carol was struggling with her own things.
She knew how much the apartment landlord would suck their money out of his tenants. She helped Loki with getting a job and he became a lawyer. Carol was in debt and one afternoon at lunch, she completely blanked out from everything and didn't eat at all. Loki knew how much she had been a victim of the landlord when it came to rent. The landlord would sometimes keep Carol locked up in the building's basement for days even weeks. He did this to anyone who couldn't pay rent on time. Today was the day she'd have pay rent. She already knew that she had to go to the basement. Thing is that the landlord liked to physically abuse every one of them before throwing them into the basement.
Just when he came, Loki stood at the door while Carol hid in her bedroom cupboard. She could hear the men grunting and beating each other. One moment she could hear nothing and then more angered grunts as they reached the room. Loki was barely making it and the landlord was already winning. Loki was on all fours on the floor bleeding from his nose.
