The girls were laying in the recovery ward of the second floor in the New York city hospital. Their parents were told that they'd be ready to go home in two days time. 'Don' t worry sir. Your daughter will be alright. 'the doctor assured Loki. He was worrying that he would all alone again which would feel like another century going by. So the next morning when Loralai awoke, he was already phoning in to check on her.

She picked up the phone from the hospital desk and said 'Hello, this is Loralai Laufeyson. How may I help you?' Loki smiled and said 'Hello, sugarplum. How are you?' 'Still in the wheel chair. My legs are numb and I struggled to walk from the room to the desk. But I'm alright. How' s m... ' It hit her that she realized that it was only a few months ago that her mother passed away.

So she couldn't ask how she was. She had missed her mother so much that she' d already forgotten about her death. Her eyes were welling up with tears and Loralai let them roll down her cheeks without knowing it. 'Scratch that. Sorry.' she apologized tearfully. 'I just miss mom. But I keep living like she's alive. I can't help it.' Loralai continues as she begins to blow her nose. 'It's OK. I miss her too.' Loki said comforting his daughter. They smiled and their call ended.

A nurse wheeled Loralai back to the room and she assured the girls that their stay was nearly over. They smiled at each other and sat in bed. That evening, Teresa awoke and sat up. Sitting at the side of her bed was the wheelchair. She got to the edge and dropped herself onto the wheel chair. She needed to go to the bathroom and she then grabs her legs under her joints and lifts them off the bed and onto the chair.

Teresa wheels herself to the room door and opens it. She looks both left and right. Coast clear. Teresa tuned the wheels forward and the one to the right. Moving forward she went, checking every one of the doors. Found it. There to her left was the bathroom door with its sign with a figure of a woman on it. She knew it was meant for all shapes and sizes of woman. Late or not she went anyway. In she was and was done in a minute.

The moment she finished washing her hands, Teresa opened the door to check for anyone walking by. Knowing that there were cameras, security was a bit lame any how but she knew that all patients were safe. Teresa headed on to the room and looked up from her lap. She saw a dark figure, it was just standing there. So she tried to speak to it. 'Excuse me, are you a patient here?' she curiously asked. 'Sir or miss, I just want to know who you are.' she continued.

A minute passed by and the lights turned on. The nurse assisting her and Loralai, scolded her for wandering around. She didn't care but she could finally see the hallway and realized that it was the next day. There was no dark figure but her imagination. So she let the nurse wheel her back to the room.

The girls awoke together and were too excited to finish breakfast. They were ready to finally be home.
