AN INEVITABLE INTRUDER

CHAPTER TWO

SAMEER

What was going on? How come my own friends offered her a job in our company that too without even consulting me... I'm the CEO of that company... They didn't even ask me for my opinion which irked me a lot... I'm trying to stay away from that girl & here, my best friends cum my business partners are inviting her in our company where I will have to face her all the time. It's not even few hours & she has disrupted my life. All the relations that are important to me are under her spell...

After she left us in the living room, I felt relief wash over me. "Sameer... Tum itne chup kyun ho kabse? Kya hua hai tumhe?" Pandit asked me directly drawing everyone's attention on me. I knew this would be coming, but I thought Munna would be the one to ask me this. I just shrugged casually, "Mujhe kya hua hai." Munna was watching me sharply... Swati & Preeti kept mum waiting for me to speak, but I remained silent.

"Aise kaise kuch nahi hua. Hum tujhe bachpan se jaante hai Sameer, tumhare rag rag se waakif hai hum. Toh ab chup chaap bataa, kya hua hai? Tu Naina se baat kyun nahi kar raha tha? Kab se dekh raha hun, tum kaise Naine ko dekh rahe the..." Munna finally lost his patience.

What should I tell them? How can I tell them that she's distracting me since her arrival? She's affecting me too much which is not a good sign... All of them kept staring at me but I remained quiet as I didn't want to tell them the real reason. But I knew that they won't let this go, so I could escape this only by lying to them...

So, I blurted, "Munna-Pandit tum sab jaante toh ho na ki main aisa hi hun. Ladkiyon ke saath main aise hi pesh aata hun. I don't trust them. Aur maa bhi na, kisiko bhi ghar mein rakhne ke liye taiyaar ho jaati hai. Bohot jaldi kisi pe bhi bharosa kar leti hai. Bas isliye main aise behave kar raha tha. I don't trust her at all..." This was the partial truth...

When no one interrupted me, I continued, "Aur mujhe yeh batao tum sab ki, aise kaise uss ladki ko financial accountant ka job offer kar rahe the hamari company mein. Naa uske certificates dekhe... Naa uska interview liya... bas aise hi job offer kar diya. Tum sabka dimaag toh thik hai na? Uss ladki ne kahaa aur tum sabne maan liya ki woh ek topper hai..."

I looked at everyone one by one, "Don't act so stupid guys... Accountant ka job kitna important hai yeh tum sab bohot acche se jaante ho aur tum itne laaparwaah kaise ho sakte ho... Main uss ladki ko koi job nahi de raha hamari company mein samjhe tum log. Yahaan ghar mein reh rahi hai wohi kaafi hai mere liye. Ab usse office mein bhi nahi dekh sakta main... I can't stand her..."

Munna's gaze went behind me & he closed his eyes. I turned around to see why he reacted that way & I froze... My mother & Nanu were standing there while Naina stood rooted at the middle of the stairs with misty eyes. What was I doing? Why was I hurting that innocent soul???

"Ummm... Naina... Tum soyi nahi???", Preeti asked softly. Naina came down & stood exactly behind me, "Woh mujhe neend nahi aa rahi thi, toh socha baahar jaakar apne liye naya mobile aur sim card le aati hun. Kal se mummy-papa se baat nahi hui hai aur unki bohot yaad bhi aa rahi hai... Bas isliye baahar jaa rahi hun..." her voice broke at the end...
