CHAPTER SIXTEEN

NAINA

I was surprised when I saw Sameer opening the connecting door & was followed by Rohan, Kabir, Rudra, Munna & Pandit... But before I could figure out what was happening, the intercom in Sameer's cabin buzzed & he left closing the door behind him... I looked at the people around me, but they didn't say anything & stood near the door...

I saw Pandit holding a mobile in his hand, but what was he doing??? I was about to ask him, when I heard the sound of three women wishing good morning to Sameer... I knew who they were... I can recognize these voices anywhere... I walked ahead & saw Pandit recording the whole conversation on his phone...

I heard the entire conversation that happened in his cabin... I was seething in rage the way that girls had a decency to speak up & cover for their deeds... I could no longer hold onto my fury, when they were asking for forgiveness... I knew Sameer won't forgive them at all... But I still went to face them & see if they really regretted about the whole thing... But I didn't see regret in their voices, they were sorry only when Sameer fired them from their jobs... They said sorry to me when he asked them to, not on their own...

The way the girls had a audacity to say that it was all for fun, my anger flared... I couldn't control my anger... I took out my frustration & told them exactly what I was feeling... I could've stopped Sameer from terminating them but I didn't... I rested that decision on him as it was his right...

The moment the girls left; I couldn't hold onto my tears & I cried silently... Sameer pulled me his hug & thanked the others for supporting us... He knew after this incident; we were again going to be a hot topic of gossip for the whole office... He was asking for permission from others & especially from me... Neither I understood what he was asking for, nor the others... We looked at him in confusion & he asked us to sit down...

I was still in his arms, secured in his hold... I didn't know how to react to that... Rohan, Munna & Pandit knew about us but what about the others... Did they know about us too??? I looked uncertainly at Sameer who was already looking at me, gauging my expressions...

He swiftly turned to the others & spoke, "Hum dono ko aise dekhkar ab tak toh jaan hi gaye honge ki humare beech kya hai???" I saw everyone's eyes twinkling with the way he had held me possessively... He continued, "Main Naina se pyaar karta hun aur mujhe yeh baat aap logon ke saamne accept karne mein koi problem nahi hai..." Everyone's face lit up with happiness...

He looked at me deeply, "Aur main yeh baat sab ke saamne accept karna chaahta hun..." My heart skipped some beats at the way he was intensely saying all this, drawing me closer to him... "Naina... Do you have a problem if I let everyone know about us??? At least there won't be any rumors..."

I teared up again & he softly wiped them, "Naina... Agar tumhe yeh lag raha hai ki main yeh sab sirf hum dono ko rumors se bachane ke liye keh raha hun, toh please aisa mat sochna... Main poori duniya ko bataana chahta hun ki tum meri ho... Kisi ko bhi tum par ungli uthaate huye nahi dekh sakta... Aur sabke saamne jab yeh baat aayegi toh mujhe pataa hai, bohot log khush bhi honge aur bohot jalenge bhi... Naina... Tumhe toh pataa hi hoga ki hum sabko khush nahi rakh sakte... Koi na koi kuch na kuch ulta seedha toh bolega hi... Hum unka mooh band nahi kar sakte... Par haaan, at least isse pataa toh chalega kaun apna hai, jo hamari khushi mein hamara saath dega..."
