NAINA

"Sameer... Main aapko aapke 'Kyun' ka jawaab dene aayi hun..." It was time that he should get his answers... All my doubts had vanished about Amrita & I was surprised to know the truth... While leaving with Rohan, Amrita had whispered in my ear, "Naina... Sameer sirf tumhara hai..." I had turned beetroot red in a second after hearing that... I was very much elated with the sudden turn of events...

The way Sameer was singing looking at me had taken my breath away... I was dumbstruck listening to his voice... He was a fabulous singer no doubt... When he pulled the string of the guitar, it felt as if he had pulled the strings of my heart too... His husky voice, the way his eyes glistened looking at me, the lyrics of the song, everything was playing havoc with my mind...

When Swati asked me to sing a song, I had given in to my feelings... I could clearly see his love for me in those black intense eyes... I started singing as if in a trance depicting the exact feelings that were affecting us... I didn't look away from him as I continued singing... I saw him walking away from the garden after I finished singing...

I went behind him without making it obvious to the people around... He was sitting on a bench away from the garden... His eyes were closed... I softly called out to him, "Sameer..." He opened his eyes & looked at me... This was the right time to confess my feelings for him, so I finally gave in, "Sameer... Main aapko aapke 'Kyun' ka jawaab dene aayi hun..."

I saw his pupils dilating... I quietly sat next to him & started, "Sameer... Main jab choti thi naa, tab papa mujhse kehte the ki jab main badi ho jaaungi tab ek din mujhe mera rakjumar le jayega, wohhh mujhe itna pyaar karega ki main kabhi apne mummy-papa ko miss nahi karungi... Tab mujhe lagta tha ki aisa kaise koi bhi ladka mere zindagi mein aakar mujhse itna pyaar karega... Maine kabhi inn sab mein vishwas nahi kiya... Main hamesha yeh baatein hasi mazaak mein udaane lagi... Sach kahun toh koi aisa mila hi nahi jo mujhse itna pyaar kare, jo mera itna khayaal rakhe, jo mere parents ko apna maane, unhe izzat de... College mein crushes toh bohot the... Par kisiko dekhkar mera dil zor se nahi dhadka... Kabhi kisi ki maujudgi uske aane se pehle nahi mehsoos ki... Kabhi kisi ka intezaar nahi kiya... Kabhi kisiko miss nahi kiya..."

I closed my eyes recalling all the events that happened since my arrival here, "Par jab se main India aayi hun... Main yeh sab mehsoos karne lagi hun..." I opened my eyes & looked straight in his shining orbs, "Pehle din se aapne mere dil mein jagah banaa li hai Sameer... Main aajtak kisi se affect nahi hui hun... Par aap... Main kya hi bolun... Aapne mujhe bohot kuch indirectly sunaaya tha par fir aapne unn sabki maafi bhi maang li... Haannn... main hurt hui thi... Par dheere dheere aap mere dil mein bas gaye... Aapki har choti se choti baat mujhe aapke aur bhi kareeb laa rahi thi... Aapne mera itna khayaal rakha jo aaj tak mere mummy-papa ke alaawa kisine nahi rakha... Aapne har mod par mujhe sambhaala... Kabhi akela mehsoos nahi hone diya... Munna, Pandit, Swati aur Preeti, yeh sab mere acche dost bane... Par aap... aap toh unse bhi upar ho mere liye Sameer... Bohot khaas ho..."

I took his hand in mine, "Aapko jab bhi dekhti hun toh mera dil zor se dhadakne lagta hai... Aapke aane se pehle hi main aapko mehsoos kar leti hun... Aapka intezaar bhi karti hun... Aur... Aur..." His hand squeezed mine, "Aur kya Naina???" I knew he was waiting to hear the three magical words... I shifted a little closer to him, "Aur... Main aapko miss bhi karti hun..." He kept his other hand on my cheek, "Mujhe miss kyun karti ho Naina??? Kyun mujhe kisi aur ladki ke saath nathi dekh paati tum??? Kyun tumhe Amrita ka mere paas aana pasand nahi tha??? Bolo Naina... Aaj mujhe jawaab chahiye..."
