The baby stirring in your arms woke you before the alarm did. When your eyes opened, they focused on the huge blue sphere in front of you. A new planet. You rubbed your eyes and the baby cooed, nuzzling his face tiredly against your neck. You patted his back and sat him on your lap.

"Looks like we made it," Din said. "Get ready for landing." He slammed his hand against the panel. "Dank Farrik!"

"What?" you asked.

"The landing array isn't responding. Without the guidance system, it'll be a manual re-entry. It might get a little choppy. Once we're through the atmosphere, there might be just enough fuel to slow us down... if we don't burn to a crisp."

You swallowed down the fear and it settled in the pit of your stomach. Your grip on the baby tightened. "Great."

It was the most terrifying experience ever, and you'd had a lot of terrifying moments in the last few weeks. As the ship dropped into the atmosphere, your stomach dropped somewhere far, far below you. The alarms blared on the ship and the lights flashed red. Din hurriedly worked to keep things alive on the ship, his fingers racing across the panel at lightning speed.

"Come up here! I need your hands."

You unstrapped yourself from the seat and passed the Child to the frog lady. She sat him on her lap as you moved to Din's side, gripping his seat so you wouldn't fall. "What do you need me to do?"

"This lever needs to stay back," he said, nodding to it with his head. "Can you do that?"

"Yeah," you said, and you grabbed it tightly and yanked it back. "I got it."

"Good," he said.

The ship continued to fall. Over the com, you heard a static voice said, "Razor Crest, this is Trask flight control. Please reduce your speed to port protocol."

"I'm trying my best here," he said. "Engage reverse thrusters. Brace!"

The frog lady grunted as she held the tank of eggs against the side of her seat. Her arm was tight on the Child. You shoved your shoulder against Din's side, trying to keep your feet from slipping underneath you as the ship rocked and pulled.

"Hold on!" he pleaded to you.

"I'm trying," you said, teeth clenched. You put all of your strength into pulling the lever back towards you and keeping it there.

"Razor Crest, do you copy? You have to reduce speed."

"Almost there," Din muttered. "Almost there."

The baby laughed, completely unphased by the danger you were in. You glanced back at him in wonder and shook your head.

"Razor Crest, you're coming in too fast. You have to re---"
