You wanted to keep sleeping, but the nerves in your stomach woke you quickly. Your mind was already preparing yourself for what was to come. Your eyes shot open and your head raised off of Din's shoulder. He was awake and looking at you. You could see your wide-eyed reflection in the visor of his helmet. You swallowed and your eyes fell to your lap, where you folded your hands that were beginning to shake.
"Are you afraid?" he asked softly.
You nodded, and only silence followed. There wasn't much else to add. Din was afraid, too.
The first step of Din's plan involved getting the doctor. Dr. Pershing wasn't difficult to locate, nor difficult to take captive. One hit with an ion canon and Boba Fett had the ship frozen in the middle of the starry vastness. They lowered their shields and surrendered. Easy prey.
You and Din walked onto the ship first, blasters up and ready. The three men stood up, hands in the air. The only one you recognized was the doctor. You remembered him from the message you'd seen back on Nevarro. Your finger was up against the trigger.
"Before you make a mistake, this is Dr. Pershing," one of the pilots said.
"We've met," Din said. "Is the kid alive?"
"Yes," the doctor answered eagerly. "He's on the cruiser---" A gasp left his mouth as the pilot put a blaster to his head and an arm around his throat.
"Easy," you threatened.
"I'm sorry, princess," the pilot mocked. His eyes raked over you, over your hair that hung loose over your shoulders, over your cream colored dress. "Am I supposed to be afraid of you?"
"I would be. I think it's safe to say none of us are going to be patient with you." Cara walked around you, her blaster raised and her eyes narrowed on the brave pilot holding the doctor.
"Stay back, Dropper," the pilot said, scoffing.
"Easy, pal, okay?" the second pilot pleaded. His hands were still raised. "I'm not with him. We can work something out---"
The other pilot shot him in the back of the neck. The doctor cried out in shock as the body slumped over on the floor. You didn't flinch.
"Drop your weapon," Cara said.
"No. No, you listen to me," the pilot replied. "This is a top tier target of the New Republic. This is a clone engineer. And if they find out he's dead, because of you, you're gonna wish you never left Alderaan." He smirked, realizing he struck a chord. "I saw the tear. You wanna know what else I saw? I saw your planet destroyed. I was on the Death Star."
"Which one?" she asked, showing off her own smirk in reply.
He laughed. "You think you're funny? Do you know how many millions were killed on those bases?"
