"This guy. Mayfield. How do you know him?"

"I'm responsible for why he is where he is currently," Din said. "Let's just leave it at that."

"Then how are you sure he's going to help us?" you asked.

"I won't be giving him much of an option," Cara said, glancing your way as the ship came to a slow landing on the fields of Karthon. "He either gets on board and makes himself useful, or he'll rot away down here."

As she disembarked, Din looked at you. "A part of me believes he'll choose to rot here."

"You must've made him real mad then," you said, the corner of your lip twitching into a smirk.

"I did," he said. "But he deserved it."

Boba Fett and Fennec walked out of the ship first. As you followed suit, Din at your side, you could hear the stranger laughing nervously. "You know, for a second I thought you were this other guy."

As soon as Mayfield saw Din, the smile was wiped off his face. His eyes dropped to the ground, almost nervously. He fidgeted with his hands.

"Mayfield," Din said.

"H-Hey," he replied. "Mando. Long time. So what, you came here to kill me?"

"All you need to know is that I bent a lot of rules to bring you along," Cara said.

Mayfield raised his eyebrows. "Why am I so lucky?"

"Because you're Imperial."

He seemed offended as he snapped, "Hey, that was a long time ago, all right?"

"But you still know your Imperial clearances and protocols, don't you?" Din asked.

Mayfield didn't reply, but he didn't resist getting on the ship either. He stepped on willingly, if not somewhat begrudgingly. He was quiet in his seat. You sat next to Din, watching his helmet and pretending you knew what he was thinking. He hadn't spoken about much other than getting Grogu back since he had been taken.

"We need coordinates to Moff Gideon's cruiser."

"Moff Gideon?" Mayfield's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. He scoffed. "Yeah, forget it. Just take me back to the scrapyard. I ain't doin' that."

"They have their kid," Cara said, her head jerking in the direction of you and Din.

He blinked in shock. "The little green guy?"

"Yeah, the little green guy," she said.

"Wait... your kid? That thing had a mom?" His eyes were on you now. "And you're that thing's mom? Wow, so... what, I help you guys get him back and you guys let me go?"
