"I know what you're all thinking; I thought gingers were going extinct?" Luna aimed the remark at Maeve. "Yeah I did too, or maybe I've somehow managed to locate the last three gingers in the world," Maeve ignored the comment. "No offense Lily but I think being infertile is a blessing because one thing the world does not need more of is leprechauns," Lily laughed at the joke, Max took her hand. "Too bad for you Maeve, the last ginger male is already taken," Luna leaned over Max and whispered, however everyone could easily hear her say, "Even if you weren't, I wouldn't recommend Maeve, she may look young but she's got that ancient pus-" Max snorted and Maeve cut her off before she could even finish.
"I thought we made it clear you don't belong here. How many times do we have to drag you out of here?" Maeve laughed. "No really, why do you always come back to your sad little shacks?".
"Actually, Maeve," Luna gritted her teeth. "This time I came back-"
"-with friends? I always thought you were a recluse," Maeve cut in.
"I came back," Luna repeated. "For some fairy dust, and- perfect timing I might add- you and your little squad with savior complexes show up,".
"Savior complexes," Maeve rolled her tongue in her mouth, crossing her arms.
"Yeah, savior complexes. Patrolling the border like a goddamn swat team. I don't know if you know but no one asked you to do that. When have you and your little misfit posse actually done anything worthwhile, besides being a pain in my ass?".
"Misfit posse? You're one to talk. Interesting company you keep these days," Maeve surveyed the group. "Okay you want to talk about doing worthwhile things? What makes you justified to judge me? I've been around a lot longer than you, and seen things you wouldn't believe," Maeve snarled. "In the grand scheme of things you are nothing," Maeve sneered.
"Nothing huh? I don't think someone who's nothing would be in a prophecy" Luna boasted. Maeve rolled her eyes. "That's right, I'm saving the world! My existence has been foretold for thousands of years-" Kelp coughed to remind Luna they were still there. "And they are also helping me save the world," Luna gestured to the rest of them.
"Thanks for the introduction," Kelp rolled his eyes. "Who are you fairies?" he asked.
"These are the motherfuckers who harass me every time I cross into the damn forest," Luna referred to the group of six fairies. "There's-"
"I'm Quinn Bauer, purple emperor," A girl with short, pin straight blonde hair said.
"I'm Eric Carr, Raffray's white," the man who had his arm slung around a girl's shoulder said. "And this is my wife-"
"Jia Rivera, scarlet peacock," she beamed at Eric. Both of them had black hair, Jia's shoulder length like the other two girls in their group. Both of them had eyes like Cristina's, eyes of which Norah adored. Eye's that had a slight angle, which only brought out the dimension in their faces.
"I'm Dominic Marshal, but Marsh is fine," a man with a dark complexion stepped forward. He had a casual expression. "Malachite," he added.
"I'm Laurence Molina," the boy standing next to Maeve introduced himself. He had shaggy brown hair and about the same light tan complexion as Quinn. "Monarch-" Maeve elbowed him, he smiled down at her.
"Viceroy," she corrected and smiled at him. Luna rolled her eyes at whatever their inside joke was. "And I'm Maeve Casteneda, red spotted white admiral,". Leo perked up at the sound of her name, remembering the family name from his vision.
"Why do you always have to include what type of butterfly wings you have? Honestly no one gives a fuck," Luna crossed her arms. Maeve didn't acknowledge her comment, instead directing her attention to the group.
