YUDHISTIR AGREED TO GAMBLE AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED-
"Yudhistir went to Hastinapur to play the game of Gambling"
Dyutsabha ka aarambh hua, aur sab apni apni jagah baethe, Sab chintit the-
When Bhishma and the others heard for the game of dice, they all objected and tried to stop the game but Dhritarashtra's love and affection towards his son allowed the match. The game started and Duryodhana and Shakuni made sure every thing was going towards Yudhisthir's defeat.
The Pandavas arrived, the other four brother stopped him but he was stubborn. When Yudhisthir sat down and got to know that Shakuni was playing instead of Duryodhana, everyone was taken aback. He was about to cancel the match, when Shakuni said -"What happened emperor Yudhisthir? Not willing to play now or what?" These words of his made Yudhisthir stake his rare pearl necklace he was wearing, and he got forced to play. Shakuni turned round the dice as the dice were kind of Shakuni's slave. Yudhisthir lost, Shakuni now had the necklace and further he staked his jewels, hold, silver and obviously lost all of it.
Yudhisthir's stubbornness made him stake his brothers, one by one sure that he could win them and all of his other wealth but lost. Everyone was shocked, Yudhisthir staked himself and lost himself, he submitted to Duryodhana and they were his slaves. "Everything?" What about Draupadi?" Said Shakuni. Everyone was horrified when Yudhisthir staked Draupadi even after his brothers protesting and they were more horrified when he lost Draupadi. ( The rules were that slave queens (naukranis) can come but not royal queens and thus Draupadi could enter now).
Duryodhana now decided to punish Draupadi, for the times she had laughed on him, and ordered to get Draupadi. The charioteer reached Draupadi and told her that she and the Pandavas with a lot of wealth had been staked at the game of dice and had been lost and thus she had to enter the game, but she returned the soldier with a message of refusal. Hearing this Duryodhana angrily ordered Dushana to bring Draupadi to the sabha by force.
Draupadi was brought to the Sabha using force , she was pulled by her hair, tears rolling down her eyes, fire and hate for everyone in her heart and she was pull down. Duryodhana ordered Draupadi to sit on his lap and treated her like a maid, which the princess of Panchal couldn't tolerate and thus talked to all. She asked all the elderly why didn't they protest such a crime and then came the most deadly part - VASTRA HARAN.
DRAUPADI WAS TO BE CLOTHLESS IN THE SABHA WHICH HORRIFIED EVERYONE BUT NONE OF THEM OBJECTED , INCLUDING THE PANDAVAS.
KRISHNA, SEATED ON HIS CHARIOT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLE, SAW THIS AND TOOK OUT THE PIECE OF CLOTH DRAUPADI HAD TIED WHEN HE WAS HURT AND THEN STARTED TO UNFOLD IT, WHEN INFINITE LENGTH OF SARI GOT DRAPED AROUND DRAUPADI AND THE MORE DUSHANA PULLED, THE MORE IT CAME, A PILE OF SARIS GREW AND DUSHANA FELL DOWN.
Krishna was very very angry and to insult the members of such a sabha of crime, he removed all their accessories, weapons , and crowns. Draupadi cried and looked around saying-" Why did you not stop it, if you are so powerful?" And then one by one The Pandavas took pledges to kill the members of the Sabha who insulted Draupadi, laughed or enjoyed. Bheem took a pledge to tear the chest of Dushana and wash Draupadi's hair with it (here blood), and Draupadi must keep her hair open until this happens.
Draupadi was about to give Shraap when Kunti came to stop her when she said- "Mai Panchali nhi, Draupadi nhi, Aapke putro ki patni nhi, aapki bahu nhi, sirf Yagyasaini hoon!!" Then suddenly Gandhari stops her and makes her understand. She leaves the Sabha angry with fiery eyes and hate.
