Lab Rat (Saiki K)

Ch. 4

I woke up to the sun hitting my face. I felt a slight shock because at first i had no idea where i was. But all my memories slowly came back and i realized i was at my parents house. I had fallen asleep on the couch. I had been covered with blankets and there was now a nice smell that filled the air. My mom was in the kitchen.

I flipped over onto my back. A warm feeling filled my body, a feeling of safeness and joy. I couldn't help but smile. Even tho i knew this was still an experiment i felt like i'd be safe for the rest of my life.

I finally sat up and walk to the kitchen. It smelt so good.

I walked in to see my mom making breakfast.

"Good morning Ku!" My mom said smiling.

I looked at the table to see the rest of my family was up and all eating.

My mom set down a plate of eggs and toast. "There you go Ku!" She said.

She made me breakfast?

I sat down and looked at the food. I took a bite of it. My mouth watered. The food at the lab never tasted as good as this.

"So Ku, what do you think. Should we go clothes shopping today. And maybe if you'd like we can get you other things, or even a phone?" My mom said.

"Is that ok?" i asked.

"Ofc, you need clothes before you go to school, we don't want you wearing the same sweater and sweatpants every day."

"Oh ok." I said looking down at my food.

We walked through the mall, it was crowded. I stayed close to my mom because i didn't know the area very well.

She lead me into a store filled with clothes. "Ok ku, go ahead and pick out the stuff you like."

"Umm..." I didn't know what to
do. I didn't know how this worked completely.

"Do you want me to help?" She asked.

"Yeah." I said.

She smiled and we walked into the men's section of the store. She began picking things the racks asking me what i thought of them. I would either nod my head yes or shake my head no.

I felt out of place. I was getting many weird stares from people around me. I could hear them whisper about my natural pink hair, the collar around my neck, or the scare. It made me uncomfortable.

After about an hour and a half we were done clothes shopping. I had picked out many colorful clothes. I was honestly very excited for them. I always wished i could have colorful clothing like the people at the labs. But no matter how excited i was about new clothing, i wasn't about shopping. I was exhausted from it. I was just imagining how much worse it would be if i had my telepathy.

We were now in a book store. My mom was letting me pick out a few books for myself.

"Hey honey, i'm going to go to the bathroom real quick just stay here. I promise i'll be right back ok?" My mom said.

"Wait..."

"It's ok ku, just stay here."

I felt a little bit of panic but did as she asked and stayed put in the isle of the book store. I took a few breaths. I'd have to get used to this at some point.

I continued looking at books. There were so many to chose from.

"Excuse me sir."

I jumped. I looked over to see a male and female worker.

"Are you finding everything ok?" The male worker said.

I lowered my eyebrows a little and then turned around again to continue looking at books.
