Klarissa's POV

"Just a single room." I told the man behind the hotel counter. The man had a thick mustache and had slick brown hair. He looked around 30 and I was starting to get more and more creeped out the longer that he looked at me.

"Sure. Cash or card?" the man asked as he looked me up and down.

"Card." I said as I pulled out Lorenzo's card and gave it to him.

Once the man had the card in his possession he swiped it and looked down at it for a moment. After reading whatever was on it, a choking sound escaped his mouth and he became completely still.

"Is there something wrong with the card?" I asked him. I've used this card many times before so I was starting to become confused with what was going on.

"No, it went through." the man said as he quickly handed me the credit card and a room key. "Your room number is 269, I hope you enjoy your stay."

"Thanks." I said as I grabbed everything back. Quickly, I stepped into the elevator and pushed the number 2 button.

So far everything has been fine considering everything. Originally I had planned to go to my parents house, but I figured Lorenzo would expect me to go there. So instead I had stopped at the first hotel that I came into contact with. It wasn't in the best of neighborhoods, but I figured that I would only stay here for tonight.

When the elevator reached the second floor I got out and walked down the hallway to my room. Stopping at the room that read 269, I retrieved my key and slid it across the door handle. The light flashed green and I walked inside.

The room was simple, which was perfect. It had a queen size bed with a few decorations and various furniture items. Along with all that, it had a small bathroom with complementary soaps and towels.

Letting out a deep breath, I slipped off my heels and locked the door behind me. As much as I wanted to just go to sleep, all I could think about was how bad my wrist hurt. It was now completely swollen and hurt even I just gently touched it.

I thought about going out to the ice machine in the hall so I could ice it, but I decided against it. It probably isn't smart to be wandering the hotel halls by myself in the middle of the night.

In an effort to ease the pain, I went into the bathroom and turned the sink on. I then placed my wrist under the cold water and just waited. Due to the combination of the freezing temperature in this room and the water, it was going to feel better at some point.

After a while, I got tired of standing at the sink and decided to just go to bed. I removed my makeup and did the best with what I had to get ready for bed. Knowing that hotels usually have bathrobes, I took off my clothes and walked towards the closet. I grabbed one off the hanger and tied it around myself.

Quickly I went over towards the bed and got underneath the covers. Taking my phone off the nightstand table, I looked at all the missed messages I had from Lorenzo. I know how much he cares for me, but everything was getting too overwhelming at home. After I decided not to answer him back, I put down my phone and tried to get comfortable in my bed. Its impossible to feel any type of comfort when Lorenzo isn't with me.

After tossing in turning in my bed a bunch of times, I was finally able to fall asleep.

-------------------------

A loud pounding sound on the door woke me from my sleep. I frantically looked around in an effort to figure out what was happening. Checking my clock, I noticed it to be still the very early hours of the morning.
