~~~~~~~Flashback~~~~~~~
Since I have Josh by my side I have no problem with drinking tonight. I can have as many drinks as I can hold.
"Snowflake, when are we going to ditch this and go somewhere private?" Josh asks me, using one of his winter related nicknames on me.
"We just got here" I retort playfully slapping his arm "let me have a few drinks in my system, dance with Nat and Zoey, and then I'm all yours"
"I'll take you up on that" he smirks and goes to his group of friends in the back.
How did I get so lucky?
~~~~~End of Flashback~~~~~

I can't go. This is too much for me to handle right now. I have to think an excuse in about, 2 hours.

I mull a few excuses over. I could be sick, but that one was a little over done. I could get on a plane and fly over to Colorado. That was a little too extreme.

Why can't I think of anything to get out of this situation.

"Winter. You need to get ready for that party now or the young man may think you're a walking corpse" my mother shouts from the bottom of the stairs. "Now get your ass in the shower and make yourself look presentable."

I guess an excuse won't save me from a mother who lives vicariously through her only daughter.

"I don't hear the water running. You have 1 hour and a half to get ready."

Pushy.

I'm showered, make-upped, haired (if that's a thing), and laying in my outfit on my bed trying to figure out a last minute excuse. None of these will work, on Cain or my mother.

Still lost in thought, I heard a knock at my door.

"Mom I told you to just shout whenever he got here" I said with my face muffled by the pillow I was laying facedown on.

"Um, hey" Cain says.

I flop myself off the bed and land with an ungrateful thump to the floor.

"What are you doing here?"

"Picking you up for the party?" He says more like question than a statement.

"I meant, what are you doing in my room?"

"I let him up!" My mother shouts from the bottom of the stairs. What happened to 'no boys in your room', I guess that policy is only used for when dad was around.

"The paint looks good." Cain remarks walking around my room admiring my pictures and paintings. "Did you paint these yourself?"

"Yeah, they're not good. You don't have to feel obligated to say you like them or anything."

"No they're good. I actually know some of these songs too." I laugh at this one.
"What?"

"Sorry but you don't seem like a 'hardcore' kind of guy."

"Don't judge a book by its cover."

"I guess not."

"So, you ready to go?" Cain asks.

"Yeah" Now or never.

As soon as we get there the party is in full swing. People are dancing, or rather groping, with each other on the dance floor, drinking out of colored cups, and wearing glow bracelets.

"Each color of glow bracelet lets others know if you're taken or not" Cain explains to me.

"Where do you get them?" I ask.

"Right here. Hello, Clay Andrews. The hotter twin." a Cain look alike says to me. Handing me three different colored bracelets. "Red is taken, blue is single, and yellow means gay."

I must've made a weird look because Clay tells me that the people at Crosswell are very open about themselves and that bullying rarely occurs when pertaining to someone's sexuality.

I take a blue bracelet and see that Cain takes a blue one as well. Clay is wearing a red bracelet which makes me almost sad. Until I see his girlfriend.
