It's Mallorie.

"So, how did it go?" Mallorie asks me.

"It was great." I answer, "I've never had this much fun on a date with anybody before!"

"How fun could it be? There isn't anything fun to do in August in Indiana."

"We went go kart racing and then to a cute diner down the road."

"Oh, was it 'The Comet'?" Mallorie asks me.

"Yeah, it looked really hometown-y."

"That's where we all go after games and to hang out." Mallorie hesitates, "You must be pretty special if he took you there. We will all have to go sometime."

"Yeah, totally."

Was I special? Did taking me to The Comet mean that Cain wanted to see me again? I hope this means a second date, that would be spectacular.

"Hey, since we haven't really known each other for that long, I think we should do all the things we would've done if we were friends at a younger age!" Mallorie says suddenly.

"That sounds great. Where should we start?" I ask.

"Middle school makeovers!"

That's how this night started. By 11:30 we had given each other makeovers, baked cookies, and watched the Titanic.

My mother walks in when we are crying over poor Leonardo DiCaprio dying.

"I swear he dies in every movie he is in." My mother says to us.

"Hey mom, why are you home so late?" I ask her.

"Oh, some writer called complaining about a grammatical fix in some sentence of her book."

"Fun." I tell her sarcastically.

"Yeah. So who is this?" My mom asks gesturing Mallorie.

"This is Mallorie, she's also on the dance team."

"Well hello Mallorie. I would tell you to make yourself at home but I see you already have." My mother says laughing, "I'll go draw a bath and then I'll come back down and see if you can order pizza this late."

My mother walks upstairs and I hear the bathroom door close. Mallorie turns to me and says, "Your mom is so cool."

"Yeah I guess she is." I say, "Clueless next?"

"Heck yes!"
