the odd shephard out

It's been 2 hours since Isabella left to go back to new york to start studyung for a career she didnt want.

Derek has been trying to talk to Mark but mark ignores him, walking the other way.

In the ER they were preparing for a 4 car pile up car crash they were ready for many people needing treating but they werent really ready for what was about to come through those doors.

Dr Owen hunt and Meredith were gowning up ready to meet the ambulances but they didnt get there in time as the first casuallty came in and they knew who it was.
Merediths back was turned so she didnt see the face but she heard the name.

"This is Nancy shephard" the paramedic started to talk.
"Shephard did you say Nancy shephard" Meredith demanded quickly spinning on her heels to find Nancy on the guerney.

"Someone page the cheif now and Doctor Sloan" Meredith instructed.
"Meredith I am fine i think i have done soemthing to my arm thats all wheres mum, Isabella where are they?" Nancy said starting to panic.
"Your the first here" Meredith smiled sweetly "Wilson shes yours now" meredith instructed the intern.

"This is Carolyn shephard" the next guerny rolled it.
"Meredith, is Isabella here or Nancy" carolyn asked grabbing Meredith.
"Mum im here but Isabella isnt yet" Nancy informed her as they were put in a bed next to each other.

"Mum Nancy, wheres Isabella?" Derek asked as he ran to their side.
"What happened?" Mark asked joining derek.
"We were in a car accident" Nancy started.
"Isabella isnt here yet we need to find her. She she we couldnt wake her" Carolyn remembered trying her hardest to stay calm.

"Mum you okay?" Derek asked noticing the cut on her head.
"Im fine derek"

"Meredith" Derek called looking for his wife as she appeared by his side.
"Can I help?"
"Can you check my mum over please" derek asked and she smiled nodding taking other.

Derek and mark walked over to owen ready to quiz him on Isabellas where abouts but they were beat to it.

The next guerney rolled in and Derek and Mark jumped to the side of it.
"This is Connor Wright, open head wound" The paramedic started to explain the extent of Connors injuries
"Wheres Isabella?" Connor kept asking.

"Hes been asking since we got him in the ambulance" the paramedic filled them in.
"Do you know where she is?" Derek gently asked
"When we left they were cutting her out of the car" the paramedic added.
"It didnt look promising, she was unconscious debris in her foot, big head lac and the car is crushed." Another paramedic filled them in getting excited by each word.
"That is the Cheif and you are talking about his sister" Doctor hunt informed the paramedic.
"Im so sorry" he started to apologise
"Just go" Mark firmly and forcefully spoke.

Derek walked into the trauma room  where Connor was being treated, he was just wanting to feel useful and ignore the information he had just heard but Owen got in his way.
"Your not on this case" Owen forcefully spoke
"I am cheif and a neuro surgeon im on this case" Derek firmly spoke.
"No your not your distracted, you just heard that there is a possibilty, a slim possibility that your sister may not make it here, you are worrying you are not on this case" owen said once more as he gave Connor to Lexi.

Derek and mark stood there unsure where to go next or even what to do they felt helpless then after a couple of seconds they heard sirens so they both leapt other ready to gown then waited for the ambulance.

"This is Isabella Shephard, she was unconcious at the scene and not regained conciousness. She has coded twice on route and her oxygen level is low. She has a piece of car door debris in her foot  and she has a head wound" paramedic filled them all in as they got her of the back of the ambulance into the ER.

Derek thought when Isabella came in he would jump into action ready to fix his sister to send her off to art school but seeing her covered in cuts, bruises and blood and the gigantic piece of the rental card door sticking out of her foot terrified him, he felt helpless and that it was his fault she was in the hospital, he should have fought harder for her to stay and not go with Connor then maybe she wouldnt be on a guerney.

"Isabella" carolyn called as she saw her baby wheeled in she tried to rush to her but meredith and nancy stopped her.
"Let them work mum, we will be updated" nancy reasured her.

"Isabella" Connor called he tried get to her but he tripped over a wire banging his head on the side of the bed and started to seize.

"Help over here" Derek called as he noticed someone siezing not knowing what it was then turned them over to see it was connor. For a second he thought about not helping him for what he has caused but he heard Isabella in his head "you got to help him. Your a doctor thats what you do" so he started to help.

Cristina then came over to derek handing him Connors head CT.
"Cristina show me now" Derek shouted as he was given the head CT.
"Crap hes got a bleed we need to operate now" derek shouted as they got ready to operate.

"Amelia with me, you have privileges" Derek knew he needed either Amelia or Meredith in the OR with him to keep him calm and unemotional Meredith would be the best choice but he had a better job for her so his next best option was Amelia.

"Meredith you update me every 20 minutes on Isabella and Mark you go in there and kepe her alive." Derek instructed as he ran off into surgery.
