Drinks at the bar

We entered the bar and saw a lot of the other inters sitting at the tables all laughing. We went to the bar and ordered some drinks.

"What can I get you ladies?

"I'll take a beer and a shot of tequila. What do you want Amelia?"

"The same for me, please."

We got our drinks and went to a table in the back to talk and get to know each other. Amelia and I talked for hours and ordered some more drinks. At the end if the night we ordered a cab and both went our own way.

"Goodnight Amelia. See you tomorrow!" I said getting in my cab and waving goodbye.

The next morning

"Hi sunshine. How is your head?" I heard a familiar voice behind me. I turned around to see Amelia standing against the door of our locker room looking at me with a big smile on her face.

"I am great, my head hurts a little but it is all worth it."

We changed and went to both to our residents to get our assignments for today. I got assigned to run labs on all of the patients in pre-op. I made my way up to the first patient who was waiting to go to the OR for a whipple. I took her blood and ran to the lab. For an hour I was taking blood samples and running back and forth to the lab. After I was done with the last patient I got paged by my resident to come to the ER. I delivered the last labs on my way up there. When I arrived it was pure chaos. Everyone was running around and bossing the interns around. I got called by my resident who told me to go with this kid that got hurt in a big crash on the highway.

The pediatric attending told me to get an ultrasound to check for internal bleeding and to book an OR. I did as I was told and we left to go to the OR. I got to scrub in on my first surgery, how cool is that. Amelia and I are so going to celebrate again tonight! The surgery ended up taking 5 hours. The kid had a massive hammarage during the surgery and decided to bleed out. The surgeon got all the bleeders but had to take out one of his kidneys and part of his liver. This surgery was such a high, the tension of almost loosing the kid and the adrenaline from saving him made me feel so good. We saved the kid, we did it. We scrubbed out and I went back to the pit to see if i could help anyone else.

Amelia's POV

I got paged to the ER 911 by my resident. I arrived, went to Dr. Beckx and asked what was happening. She told me that there was a big accident on the highway and that it was an 'all hands on deck' situation. She told me to go with the patient coming in and to take her to trauma room 1.

I took my patient to trauma room 1 looking at her injuries. I saw a head lack, a broken leg and she started coughing up blood. I asked a nurse to page someone from neuro and ortho. A general surgery attending was with me and told me to go book an OR and to tell neuro and ortho to meet us there. We went to the OR and when I was about to scrub in the attending ordered me to go back to the ER and help out there. I made my way back to the ER and searched for my resident to ask who I should help next.

"Go to trauma 3 they can use some help."

I made my way to trauma 3 and as I was about to enter Arizona opened the door from the inside. She pulled the gurney out of the trauma room. I jumped back and looked at the patient. He had a metal bar sticking in his abdomen. The attending asked if I was free and if I could help out in the OR. We all went up and scrubbed as fast as we could. Before entering the OR Arizona and I exchanged big smiles. The surgery was touch and go the patient coded several times but always came back to us.

We finished the surgery and went down to the ICU with the patient. After we left him there we looked at each other proudly, we had our first save together today.

"We deserve a celebration tonight. You in?" I asked Arizona as we walked to check up on her other patient from today.

"Hell yea I am!" She answered enthusiastic.

We arrived at our lockers putting on our street clothes and leaving for the bar. We ordered the same as the day before and went to sit at our table. Arizona stood up and went to put on a song so we could dance. We danced all night. I called a cab and told Arizona to come back to my place so we could finish the party there.

We arrived at my place and I went straight to the kitchen to get some tequila. I came back with 2 shot glasses only to find Arizona asleep on the couch. I put away the booze and gave her a goodnight kiss on her head. I went to my bed and as soon as I laid down I fell asleep.
