“Oh, thank god. I’m so glad you called.” Harry breathed into the phone.
“Can we talk?” Sarah was almost mute. She felt the tears coming to the surface again, when she heard his voice.
“Yes. I’ll come to you.” Harry said quickly and hung up the phone.
He grabbed his coat and ran out the door, jumped into his car and sped off down the street. He had been thinking about what he would say to Sarah all night and knew that he needed to see her face, feel her touch and kiss her lips. He felt upbeat and positive while driving down the street. He knew that the first step was Sarah at least calling and he knew he had to apologize to not only Sarah, but the boys too. The past few days, he had been a nightmare to deal with. His temper came out at all the wrong times and he didn’t want to record or write. He felt lost.
As he pulled up to her apartment building, he parked the car and took a deep breath before exiting his AUDI. He walked up to the apartment entrance and someone yelled his name behind him. “HARRY!”
It was a few female fans and they asked for a photo. Harry smiled and said, “I’ve got about 2 minutes.”
The fans were so appreciative and he smiled politely in the photos, before waving and wishing them a good day. He didn’t mind getting recognized on the street by fans, it was when a large crowd or paparazzi interfered, that he became nervous. He didn’t like the pushing and shoving of large groups and felt uneasy about every one’s safety, not only his own.
He pressed the elevator button and walked inside the small room. As the elevator moved slowly up to Sarah’s floor, he ran through what he wanted to say to her in his head. He knew it may not come out the way he wanted, but he was going to try.
He knocked softly and it took a minute for the door to slowly open.
“Oh, hi.” Harry said to Danielle, who opened the door for him. “Is she here?”
“She’s in the shower.” Danielle smiled softly at him, “I think you and I should chat before she gets out.”
Harry inched out of his jacket and placed it on the back of a chair at the kitchen bar. “Alright.” He was nervous.
“Tell me if I’m overstepping, but I just want to give you a bit of advice. I’ve known Sarah for a while now and she has been hurt badly by people in her past. And I know that wasn’t your intention to hurt her, but you did. Accept that. She isn’t like any one else you’ll ever meet. She’s kind. She’s generous. She accepts a lot of people’s faults when she shouldn’t. But, she adores you and I know that she would do any thing to make you happy. She’s told me so.” Danielle felt shy about speaking so openly with Harry, but knew he was listening to every word out of her mouth.
“Her past makes her the person she is today. But, it’s also her past that makes her vulnerable; she tries her best to show a brave face but those close to her know she’s had some things that she would rather like to forget. This relationship with you is scary. The crowds, the screaming, the photographers, the whispers; just think back to when you started, weren’t you scared? When you speak with her, just put yourself in her shoes. Ok? ”
“Ok.” Harry answered, with his head in his hands. He didn’t realize that Sarah was scared. Is she scared of me? He always thought she was all right with their relationship because she was smiling and never said anything. I guess they have more to talk about than just him apologizing. “Is she ok?”
“She’s been better. But, by the look on your face, I think you’ve been better too.” Danielle laughed, as she walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
