"What do you mean no?" I asked Minho as we walked out of the Homestead.

"I mean no; I'm not helping you annoy the second-in-command who happens to be British and will make you feel really guilty if you upset him just by looking at you," He argued, adjusting the sleeve of his beige shirt. I furrowed my eyebrows as I watched him slowly getting impatient from the sleeve constantly rolling down.

"Why don't you just leave it as it is?" I ask, making him stop what he was doing and lift his head up with a look that made me slightly anxious.

"If you must know, I hate the material of this and I would feel a lot more comfortable with it rolled up," he sighed, watching his attempt fail; again.

"Maybe you should use these." I let out a small laugh as I turned to face him, lifting up his sleeve and attaching it to a square piece of velcro just above his elbow.

"Seriously?" He mumbled before lifting his other arm for me to do the same. He stared at both of his arms in disbelief, before looking up at me again.

"You aren't the smartest tool in the box are you?" I asked, smiling. Minho just lifted an eyebrow, putting a hand on his hip. His mouth opened to speak but was cut off my an ear-splitting siren jolting me. The siren continued to blare as I watched every Glader rush from their jobs and head towards a large rectangle in the centre of the Glade made of metal.

"Greenie's here," Minho sighed before nochalantly pushing passed me to join the crowd.

I had absolutely no idea what to do or where to go, instead I stood where I was and witnessed the Gladers pulling a teenage boy out of the hole.

I watched as a slightly younger or at least shorter male came into view. His brown hair had fallen onto his forehead, shifting to the right from the winds. He looked shaken as he stared around at the new faces, I felt a pang of sympathy. Although I didn't remember when I was first brought up, I do remember waking up to new faces.

Alby pushed through the crowd, reaching to shake the boy's hand who looked down at it with his eyebrows furrowed, he looked slightly scared but more confused as any other newbie would be.

"You're safe now, as long as you don't hurt us; we'll get along just fine," he spoke, lowering his hand, "Can you tell me your name?"

The boy sighed, raking a hand through his hair before looking around at all the other Gladers, "Uh, Blake? Yeah, my name's Blake." He nodded vigorously, more sure of himself.

"Well then, Blake, I'm Alby. Welcome to the Glade." Alby let Blake take a long look around the Glade, letting him become accustomed to the strange place before grabbing him gently on the neck, nudging him forwards.

I watched as they walked to the homestead, the rest of the Gladers had gone back to their assigned jobs whilst Minho slowly made his way back to me. "He seems okay," Minho commented as we both watched the new guy.

"From what I've gathered he's a lot calmer than the usual newbie," I said, squinting as the two disappeared from my sight. I sighed and turned to Minho. "You sure you don't wanna bug good ole' Newty? I'll make you extra sandwiches," I sang, prodding his stomach teasingly.

Minho let out a huff of laughter, batting my hands away before shaking his head. "No, I'm definitely passing up the horrendous offer, besides I can't have too many sandwiches, how else am I supposed to keep up with this amazing body?" He joked before turning away, running over to the homestead.

-

"I feel bad for him," I spoke, watching the newbie with his head down, almost as if he didn't want anyone to see him.

Newt just shrugged, not caring about Blake, "They're always like this. Just leave 'em to it and eventually he'll come to us."

I sighed, leaning down on a table in the Homestead. Absolutely no one was going up to him and I couldn't help but feel responsible for it. I could easily go up and talk to him but something was telling me not to.

"Stop worrying about it. I bet you anything that by tomorrow, he'll be talking to someone," Minho sighed, sitting across from me with his arms crossed. From the way he was acting, he also didn't care about the newbie.

"And if he isn't?" I asked, propping my head on my crossed arms over the table.

"I'll go talk to him," Minho countered, copying my actions. He stared at me with a smirk, like he was certain of what he was saying.

I smiled at him, shaking my head at his cockiness, "The last time you challanged me, you ended up on the floor."

"Only because you tripped me up," he almost whispered, his breath blowing tendrils from my face.

"You shouldn't trip on my foot then should you," I replied, also a whisper. Minho chuckled, rolling his eyes playfully.

"Why are we whispering?" Newt's voice suddenly appeared, making me both jump and laugh.

I sighed, sitting up to stretch my back. I was about to reply to him when Alby burst through the door, heading over to our table.

"I hear it's someone's birthday today." He smiled, looking over at Newt who had turned a bright shade of pink.

"Birthday? You remember your birthday?" I asked, looking between the two, shocked.

Newt shook his head, sitting down next to me, "I came into the Glade three years ago today. We call it our Glader Birthday."

"You setting up the bonfire?" Minho asked Alby who just nodding in response.

Realisation hit me before I could say the word go. "I've been awful to you all day! Why didn't you tell me? Oh god, I'm so sorry." I covered my face, embarrassed.

Newt just laughed, "It technically wasn't my birthday until the Greenie came in. Forget about it, and let's go burn some wood."

-

"I feel so guilty," I whined to Gally as we walked around the edge of the glade at dusk. The walls had closed and it was an hour before our 'supposed' lights out. However tonight was different, there was a bonfire.

At first when I heard about this I was very confused, I heard it from Frypan when we were cooking sausages.

"Well you don't have to worry too much, you helped cook us something for the bonfire," praised Gally, looking towards Frypan who was preparing for the 'party'.

"I know but, I really annoyed him this morning, you should have seen his face," I sighed, running a hand through my tangled hair in frustration.

Gally shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips, "If it's really that bad then make it up to him."

"And how might I do that?" I asked, looking over at Newt who was currently laughing at something Minho had said.

"I don't know, sneak him an extra sausage?" He suggested, bursting out laughing as soon as he spoke.

"That's actually not a bad idea." I chuckled along with him, debating on whether or not I should actually give him a sausage...

"You're actually gonna go and give him a sausage aren't you?" Gally's face suddenly became serious, though, he had a hint of humor in his voice.

"Indeed I am, Gally. Indeed I am"
