Nyx pov

I woke up the next day to loki entertaining Matthew with his magic. I smiled and made us some toast and eggs. Cara emerged from her room in her pjs still. Telling her good morning i got her a plate. "Hey cara tony said you can start work next week on Thursday." She nodded her head but i could tell she was tired. Weaving my way around Matthew i gave him his plate. "Hey lil buddy eat up auntie nat,wanda ,and i are taking you to the park." He smiled brightly amd then began to eat all his food. Laughing at his antics i ate my toast. Life was better than it was before cause now i had no flashbacks and me and loki had started a friendship. Getting dressed in casual clothes i took Matthew by the hand and led him to the elevator. I offered cara to come with but she refused. I wonder why she was acting strangely cold towards Matthew. Shrugging it off you met the girls downstairs and got into a car. Wanda entertained the child while you spoke with nat briefly. "Nat there's something going on with cara she is acting cold and distant towards Matthew." Nat looked at the child before replying "you should check her thoughts remember she is only seventeen." Nodding my head i answered "ill do it when we get back and if i find anything ill let you know." She nodded before we both went back to little Matthew and wanda. For the next two hours we played in the park, ate lunch, and got Matthew a souvenir. When we got home i could tell loki was upset at being left with cara. Nat put Matthew down for a nap as i found cara. Checking her thoughts i was shocked and angered. She was using Matthew at this point to get a luxury life and to be on our good side. She in fact disliked her own child and planned once he was no longer any use she would dump him at an orphanage. Walking out of the room silently i found loki. I told him through our mind connection what i saw.
N~cara is using Matthew for her own personal gain. She plans to dump him at an orphanage when shes done.
L~what!?
N~we need to tell the others but she cant be near Matthew or anyone.
L~ok ill watch her while you tell the others make it quick.

I gathered everyone into Matthews room minus loki and cara. Telling them everything from her being cold and distant towards him to her actual thoughts. Bucky was the first to speak "welp bye bye annoying woman then and hello permanent child." I laughed a bit but then said "how are we gonna get rid of her and take the child?" Then it was tony's turn to speak "she can move to the new house if she gives you custody of Matthew and the job she will have shall have more work and be away from others." This made us all pleased so we brought in cara. "Cara there is an issue with your new home its not the most young child friendly so we was wondering if you would give us custody of Matthew whoever you both choose and live your life with your new job and big house." She stared back at me when i finished speaking and then said "ok nyx you can have him ill sign the papers today if you want and go tomorrow." I nodded my head and got everything prepared. Luckily we was able to get everything settled in a few hours and i came back with my fresh custody papers stating i was now Matthews mom. Matthew was a bit confused but then adjusted surprisingly fast. When we got home she packed immediately and left. Loki asked me "so who is the new mom to Matthew?" I pointed to myself as i prepared a snack for matt. Thats when we talked in our minds.
L~so your tge new momma?
N~yep its really cool.
L~nice but who should take the father role?
N~would you take that role? We dont have to be together or anything just be there for him.
L~it would be my pleasure miss. Stupid mortal.

I smiled at the little snack i had made after my talk with loki. He would make a great father if only the myth didnt say he was a mother to an eight legged horse. I laughed out loud at my own thoughts as i passed loki his own sandwich. "Why are you laughing?" Looking at him i chuckled before turning to walk out and say "oh nothing other than you gave birth to an eight legged horse child." I could imagine his eye roll as i gave matt his food. I used my gift to make his drawings pop up and entertain him while i ate. Loki came up to me "stupid mortal i must inform you i have mot birthed any horse children where did you hear that?" Smiling i decided to tease him "is that anyway to speak to the mom? Also from a norse mythology book." I watched him turn a shade of red so bright one might think he was sun burned really badly. "Oh my did i embarrass the mighty loki god of mischief and lies?" After i finished talking i died laughing. "Stupid mortal." Was all loki could mutter. Finally done with our food i told matt he would have to be a good boy for me and go to his room while i talked to uncle bucky. "How could you tell it was me?" Bucky spoke as he came from the hall. I simply replied "you have a special stench of sweat and metal thats how." When he nodded he said "tony said its ok for you to start missions again." At first i was shocked but pleased i missed going out on a mission "tell papa stark ill be ready for the next mission then." Bucky nodded but added "he also said that you should not hide any injuries anymore not only are you important but also you are a mom so dont hide if you need help." I sat there silent for a good few seconds before replying "ok fine but i wont bother you guys with minor injuries like a scrapped knee." Bucky only nodded before heading off. Then loki came and plopped on the couch "you should listen to tony he is right." Rolling my eyes i said "he only said i shouldn't ,he didn't order me to not hide them." Loki looked annoyed at my reply "would you please not hide your injuries think of the team, of matt, think of me. How can i tease you or you tease me if your dead?" I looked at him before huffing and saying "fine your right." For a while we just read in silence. Till i heard "Avengers assemble!" Running towards the noise i tell loki in my mind n~watch matt if i go on a mission.
L~ok and if you do be safe please.
N~ill try.
When i arrived i used my magic to change in the elevator. Dressed in our suits i stared at tony who said "we have a mission that requires nyx to come." I nodded my head already prepared to face whatever. "Ok well lets go you can tell us on the way about the mission." As we got up to the roof i made sure to tell loki ..
N~im going on a mission watch matt.
L~ok be safe and return in one piece stupid mortal.

When we loaded in tony started talking about the mission "ok a lot of shield tech has been stolen and we have to go get it back and capture the idiots." I looked at him it didnt seem to hard so why was i needed. Bruce must have had the same thought as he said "then why do we need nyx?" Tony looked at him before saying "the tech they stole controls natural elements so nyx is needed to help counter attack them." Nodding my head i knew how dangerous the elements can be especially enhanced by emotions so this mission may be too dangerous for even me. "Alright well elements are extremely hard to fight and when you enhance them by emotions they become deadly even by positive emotions." The team looked a little shaken up but not bad. When we arrived i got out first and created shields for everyone. Creeping into the building i saw the evidence they had been using the tech already which means they might have trained to know how to properly use them. This is not going to be easy. As if to back up my thought a ball of fire came down from a hall aimed directly at me and the others. Quickly i used my powers to throw a wave of water to crash into the fire ball, destroy it and finally disappear. In my ear piece i could her clint say "well they know we are here." When we finally got to a large room i saw multiple people with the elements. As soon as i came into view multiple fire balls, gusts of wind, and giant tidal waves of burning hot water. As fast as i could i dealt with the issues disarming a few for the team to take on. Thor and i i fought head on. I felt my skin burn from the fire and burning water. My body freeze from the cold gust of wind, scratches and other things appear from the elements. Suddenly a giant rock with fire was shot towards my body. When it crashed into me i felt two ribs crack, the wind get knocked from me, more burns appear, and my knee made a crunch noise. I had made a huge mistake coming into this mission i had put shields on everyone but me. Soon another smaller rock hit me knocking me half unconscious. Enough ro where i couldn't stand but still able to hold the shields up. I watched as the hulk and thor took down the final group and it was over the mission was over and i was alive. I look to hulk who came and lifted me up cradling my beaten body. As soon as he was no longer hulk i was put in the jet on the bed. When we got back i completely blacked out.

Loki's pov.

When i heard them arrive i expected to hear nyx come in joking with cap or bucky or thor. I was met with them rushing an unconscious nyx towards medical. Her body was battered and beaten. I told matt to stay in his room and asked jarvis to watch him. Rushing towards them i got a full horrific view of nyx. Her once smiling face now had burns and cuts littered on it. Up and down her body was cuts and burns. I spoke up "i can heal her she wont have a scar at all." Wanda said "hurry heal her please." Rushing to her side i guided my hands over her body and face. As my green magic healed her i mentioned how she will need rest for at least a week and her knee will still need a brace. When i was done i stayed with her making sure she was ok. Even tho she no longer had burns or cuts i could still see her face when i first saw her. After a few more hours she finally woke up slowly.

Nyx pov.

As i woke up i felt a bit of pain. A groan came out of my lips as i slipped back on the bed. A sudden wave of tiredness rushed over me. As i slipped back into the abyss i whispered "loki i tried." After those words i was gone from consciousness.

Loki's pov.

When she fell back asleep i heard her whisper "loki i tried." I knew she had no clue i was in the room but i remember her telling me she would try to be safe. I was confused but maybe that was her last thought when she first got knocked out. I was concerned for her safety now but knew the use of her magic to a large amount would make her tired. I left her side for a moment to tell jarvis to inform the team that she is tired and resting but woke briefly. When he said ok sir i went back to her side. I was going to wait until she woke up. Quickly i remembered i still needed to conjure up a knee brace for her. When i got it on her i decided to nap. An hour
Waking up i watched her start to stir in her sleep. Soon one eye shot open she was awake.
