Dario had left Kevin alone in the bedroom for a short while when he went back and found the bed empty. He panicked and rushed to the en suite. Kevin was inside and the two opened the door at the same time, and they both got startled. They gazed at one another without saying a word.

It was the first time Kevin looked directly at Dario for more than three seconds. When Kevin didn't say anything nor moved, Dario took a step forward leaving no space between their feet. All he wanted more than anything was to touch his mate. He lifted his hand slowly trying not to make Kevin flinch and when he didn't, he gently brushed Kevin's chin. He traced his face with his fingers, enjoying and appreciating every cue of it. His thumb brushed Kevin's bottom lip, leaving them craving more of his touch.

"Dario..." Kevin murmured. He asked himself how something could feel so wrong yet so right at the same time. Dario decided to do the most daring thing. He leaned forward until his lips were a hair away from Kevin's. After a while of teasing, Dario's lips at long last made contact with Kevin's slightly parted ones. The contact sent influxes of electricity through their bodies and Dario's wolf howled in delight.

Kevin loathed the bond, he despised what he was doing to Haiden. He wanted to stop and back away, but something within him shut him out and took control of his body. He felt like he was being possessed by some kind of spirit. The body was his yet the mind was not.

They both moved their lips in sync. Dario's one hand was in between the back of Kevin's neck and ear, and his other one was at his waist. Kevin loved Haiden, there was no uncertainty about that but what he felt from kissing Dario was nothing like Haiden's kisses. He wanted more, he yearned for more and he got more.

Dario broke the kiss slowly and looked square at Kevin's splendidly appealing hazel eyes. They were brimming with passion, admiration, love, lust, excitement and everything you'd want your soulmate to look at you with. Dario had only known Kevin for a short while but he knew those eyes didn't belong to him. He knew Kevin would never look at him like that because he despised the bond between them.

Dario had analytical and critical thinking skills so it was time to put them in use. Foremost, the rejection only worked if both the Alpha and his mate's wolves reject the rejection. Furthermore, Kevin didn't know how he ended up near Beaumont. It was roughly a two hour drive from Beausoleil to Beaumont, so walking would be less or more than five hours. But when he called Haiden, he said Kevin had been missing for only an hour. And lastly, Kevin not having full control of his body.

"Kevin?" Dario called him and something flickered in Kevin's eyes in a swift, and he abruptly sobered up like someone who had just suffered from an unconscious mind.

"Yo- You have a wolf?" Dario asked.

Kevin's eyes popped out in confusion. "What?"

"No, that sounds stupid. You're a Shapeshifter so there's no way you have a wolf. That's absolutely impossible. But still... argh forget it." Dario mumbled to himself and Kevin just stared at him.

"By the way, what were you doing in the woods naked in the middle of the night?" Dario asked crossing his arms.

"I told you that I don't remember anything."

"At all?"

"The only thing I remember is the agony I felt when my bones started cracking and breaking out of nowhere. I also remember running out of Beausoleil like a madman but I can't remember anything after that."

"That's all?"

"There was something screaming inside of me, yelling at me to let it out."

"All Shapeshifters have a true animal. What is yours?"
