Genevieve pov yayy

"Lillie Mae, don't be stupid, of course you are going to be inheriting the business!" Raymond laughed.

"Dad, once I'm eighteen I told you that I'm going to Paris and I'm going to learn to be a professional ballerina. I would absolutely hate to sit in your office all day, on the top of a building, writing memos. I already hate writing as is. And sitting. The seats are horrible. Please, Dad, let Genevieve run the company. She'll do must better than I could ever do, with autism and dyslexia, Dad, you know that."

Genevieve glowed in the mention of her name, as she, 7 years old, eavesdropped in the conversation between her 15-year-old sister Lillie Mae Huang and her father.

Lillie Mae had been the daughter between the arranged marriage of Raymond Huang and Evangeline Ramsay-Corrington. It was arranged by the Ramsay patriarch,  Christopher Ramsay, who had also arranged the union between Joseph Ramsay and Violet Corrington. And let's say that their short-lived relationship didn't last more than her first children being born. Twins, Arthur and Lillie Mae. Eva grabbed one of her children in the dark and ran off to Egypt where her uncle ran a excavating business and passed of as a water girl, passing water to the excavators. She and Georgie had both died of dengue fever when Lillie Mae was 6.

After that, on a tour of Greece to see if he could expand his business, he met Genevieve Onasis, and he married her, but of course, she died. Raymond had never ever had another relationship.

Genevieve obviously wanted to be the owner of the business. Sitting on a leather armchair(she had to agree with Lillie Mae that the chair was awfully uncomfortable), writing memos, able to make the prettiest cottages and the most elegant mansions , just counting the pounds and pounds coming in..

Raymond pondered on this for days and days. However, a week before Lillie Mae's eighteenth birthday, when he was about to tell Lillie Mae the logistics for taking over the business, he foud her room empty, and  note on her bed.

It read

Dearest Dad,

I can't, I won't, I shan't run this business. I will probably be in France by now. Grandpapa Joe and Grandmama Vi have invited me to their Monte Carlo holiday home while I join a Ballet Academy.

Thanks for everything

Your daughter

----

Genevieve woke up in a sweat. Remembering Lillie Mae was never pleasant.

But now she understood.

A dream is always worth chasing.

She wondered how Lillie Mae was doing now.

"Magnates!"

"Yes, Mr Sterling." the Magnate house of Year Seven chorused back.

"Mrs Hendreary, the head of year, has kindly allowed the Year Sevens two weeks of touring at any desirable destination, starting on November 8th, and ending on November 22nd.  Mrs Hendreary has all the right contacts to be able to book flights and hotels for all 50 of you Year Sevens in short notice. Since it is still September, you all will be able to contact your family members to ask where is best for you to travel."

A flurry of discussion waved quickly after Mr Sterling's silence, but in Genevieve Huang's mind, her decision was clear.

---

Amethyst Brady was at her desk, leaning on the chair. She had a messy dirty blonde bob that looked as though it had been cut in twenty seconds with a blunt kitchen knife, which knowing Amethyst sudden urge to be 'cool' was probably what had happened. She wore one contact lens with a striking, fake blue colour in it to  contrast with her grey ones to make it look as though she had heterochromia.

"Ginny-vieve, Ginny-vieve, where are you going?" she asked, in a surprisingly pitchy voice.

"France."

"France? That's a bit near, isn't it?" Amethyst laughed. What a laugh that, was, more like a hiccough that a laugh. "I'm going to Saudi Arabia. It supplies 25 percent of Daddy's company with oil. Daddy always says that it will be best for my first business trip to be to the Saudi Arabian oil suppliers."

"That's nice, Amethyst."

Really, Genevieve wasn't listening. She was writing a letter.

Dearest Grandpapa Joe and Grandmama Vi

Did Lillie Mae ever make it to your holiday home in Monte Carlo? Did she move on to Paris yet? How is she? And is it possible that I could see her between 8 and 22 of November?

Lots of love

Genevieve Huang
