"How was classes?" Genevieve asked Rose and Hilda.
"M'kay. We had a little meeting with Celebrity's Head of Year, Miss Nicholson. She was a like, 'Being a celebrity is a life-long temperament of glamour.' and 'stay in the trends no matter what.' Then we had Maths and English, the usual."
"And your dorm-mates?"
"Jason and Stella Saxby's daughter Skye Blue Saxby and that Melanie Ferdinand model woman's daughter Tiffany Holmes."
"Ahh. Ok. And Hilda, what about you?"
"We learnt about all the noble houses that attend Blackwood. I'm part of 'The House of Albury' which is quite a big estate of in Kent." And Hilda was too nice to say, but a girl called Anastasia Dupont who was so proud, vain and full of herself just found out that her land was only a kilometer square, called Mogden, and was the smallest in the history of Blackwood. And boy, was she humiliated. It was actually a bit funny, but Hilda recognised this in the Caveman incident that happened to her, so se replied, "Stop laughing. Your land does not measure your worth in life, you all."
"And who are your dorm-mates?"
Hilda bit her lip. "Uh... a girl called Hannah Yaxley who's family owns Valencio in Italy." Hilda hoped this lie would work as some people only had one dorm mate.
"What about you, Genevieve?" Rose teased. "Hiding something?"
"Ha! No. It was just as I suspected life at Magnate to be. Lectures from successful businessmen and -woman, pity parties for the ones that weren't as successful - and then our Head of Year, Mr Sterling, was like, 'Listen and learn, ladies. Listen and learn.' It was so weird. And then I have Amethyst Brady as my dorm-mate." Genevieve grumbled, balling her fists.
"Amethyst Brady?" scoffed Rose. "What type of name is that? Does her parents have any sense?"
"Obviously, no. Her original name was Jane but she sweet-talked her father into letting her legally change her name, so then she chose Garnet Amethyst Aquamarine Diamond Emerald Pearl Ruby Peridot Sapphire Opal Topaz Turquoise Luna Stella Aurora Brady, but she goes as Amethyst for short." Genevieve replied, shaking her head disapprovingly.
"Let's just have some lunch." Hilda sighed, picking at her teriyaki chicken. You were allowed to have anything for dinner, but for lunch you had the normal option, the allergy-free option and the vegan option.
So all three of them wound up with teriyaki chicken.
Soon, Hannah joined the table with her asparagus and shitake tacos and after another while, Skye Blue came along as well with her allergy free quinoa falafel bowl. It was the fuel they needed after the first day of school.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Days went by and Anna still went by with snide comments, and targeted her in many of her attacks. She would tell her that the day was off and that there was no school for the rest of the week, and then Hilda would receive detention for weeks on end. She kept quiet to anyone: if she told anyone and got Anna into trouble, that would only fuel her anger and her tricks.
Anna was the rightful heir to Albury, so she had an extra lesson with all the other noble heirs and she got a lot of special treatment.
But when Anna went by with a extra heir of status, Hilda had found out that the paperwork had been made and that even if Anna was a bit underage, she found out that Anna was officially the ruler of Albury and that her head of year, Mrs Hendreary, would be helping to find Anna a suitor, along with Albury's finest matchmaker.
And even then Hilda still had the worry knotted up in her stomach. The feeling as though it should be herself. Not Anna.
But why bother other people in something that had no evidence, or any backup, whatsoever?
That was low and snake-like.
That was like how Antonio treated Prospero in The Tempest.
Not very nice.
So Hilda just sat there. Ignoring that prickling feeling.
"I'm not Lady Albury. Anna is the oldest." she told herself.
And then settled for another sleepless night.
I'm SOOOOO sorry for not updating. I had writer's block, homework, and more homework. And I'm spending too much time on Zoom. So now that my school has opened, and I get here early, I can do some much-needed writing.
This is a short chapter, I know, but there wasn't really any more relevant things from Hilda's POV worth writing in this story.
Now, we are going to step into the world of fashion, and luxury, and Lady Alburys. Yes, we are taking a visit to Anna Willow's POV.
See you soon!
