Nathan's pov

Waking up, I crawled out of the wreckage, but I saw Emma was knocked out and trapped so, I quickly got her out. Running while I had Emma over my shoulder, I shot at the armored truck that was still driving after us.

After the truck pursuing us crashed, I carried Emma with both arms, and turned the corner hiding behind a wall when some of Lazarević's men showed up searching for us. "Stay here and wait for me, Emmi." I told her unconscious form as I put her down behind the wall, and got my guns ready.

Shooting down a couple of them, I got in close for the last three and beat them down. Picking up their ammo, I circled back to get Emma who had woken up.

"Nate? What happened?" Pulling her by the hand I told her, "I'll explain later, right now we have to find Chloe." She nodded and followed me clutching her pistol to her chest.

We climbed up to the destroyed roof of a building where we avoided detection when a helicopter flew by. We jumped down and landed in and area full of Lazarević's soldiers. "You take that half, I'll take the other." Emma tells me and goes off to knock some heads.

Emma finishes her half of the soldiers before me, and helps me when I accidentally start another shootout. "Next time, try being stealthy cowboy." She says afterwards while punching my arm playfully.

'Well, that's something I guess.' I thought as we both ran towards a blocked exit. "Oh no, what are going to do Nate?" She asks me as I start shooting at the soldiers.

Ducking behind a pillar when one of the soldiers starts shooting at us with a heavy machine gun. "Shit....." I muttered out as Emma tapped my shoulder to look up.

An RPG hit the armored truck with the machine gun and it exploded taking care of that problem. Emma and I turned around to see Chloe holding an RPGzzedww. "Seems like I'm always saving your ass Nate."

As Chloe hopped down, I tell her, "Well, it is an ass worth saving." I caught her as she wrapped her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist.

"Is that an ancient Tibetan ritual dagger in your pocket?" She teases, and I hesitantly answer, "Maybe I'm just happy to see you." I put her down and she takes the phurba out from where I put it on my belt.

I was so busy talking to Chloe, I had nearly forgotten Emma was still standing there.

Emma's pov

I wanted to run. I couldn't take the jealousy I felt. 'I just have to put up with it. That's all I can do.' I thought over and over, trying to push back my feelings. I kept trying to reassure myself with that one thought, lulling myself into a state of false security.

After I calmed myself, I heard Chloe ask, "So this is the key to everything?" Before Nate could say anything I answered, "Yes, that is Marco Polo's passport to Shambhala." Taking the phurba from her I say, "We still haven't figured out what to do with it, but  Lazarević won't get very far without it."

Chloe says, "I wouldn't underestimate Lazarević, he and Flynn must have leveled dozens of temples already. So, what's our next move?" I had been examining the phurba when Nate snuck up behind me, and pressed against me a little forcing a small blush to appear on my cheeks.

"I hate when you do that." Chloe says to Nate who call her over saying, "Check this out, you see this symbol?" She nods and he says, "Look up there." He points to an archway with the same symbol. Chloe questions, "So what does that mean?"
