Mikayla and the Temple

Emma's pov

Mikayla's camera guy tackled me to the ground causing her to yell, "Jake, it's fine! This is Amelia you know, I told you about her?" He gets off me and helps me up saying, "Sorry, my name's Jake, I'm Kayla's camera guy."

Standing up Kayla asks, "So what's your angle on all this misery here? You're gonna plunder a few temples, take some artifacts from the museum and relocate them all to your manor for 'safekeeping'?"

Smiling I say, "Nice to see you too, Kaylie. Oh right I haven't introduced you, this is one of my other business partners, Nathan Drake." I gesture to him and she says, "Nice to meet you, my name is Mikayla Hajsenovik. I'm a freelance journalist....well at the moment anyway."

"So what are you doing here anyways?" I asked, Kaylie curious as to why she wasn't adventuring like she said she'd be. "Tailing the fugitive war criminal Zoran Lazarević. NATO thinks he's dead but I'm here to prove he isn't."

"I thought you were supposed to be in Yemen investigating an ancient curse or something." I say, causing Kaylie to counter, "I was but I pawed it off on some other poor sap. Besides what I'm doing right now is more important."

Turning to Nate and I she says, "This guy is a real monster Emma, we're talking torture, mutilation, mass executions. I see now, he's plotting something new, but why out here, why, why tear apart the city. You bbn know it just doesn't make any sense."

Trying to say something Kaylie turns to me saying, "Oh no, tell me you don't have anything to do with this." Scoffing I countered, "That's ridiculous--" Chloe shouts from afar, "There you are you two. Think I finally lost them." She aims her gun at them and I say, "Whoa, whoa, it's all good Chloe, they're journalists."

Putting her gun away she states to Nate and I, "Well, we've got go keep moving if we want to stay one step ahead of Lazarević." Kaylie exclaims, "Oh man, Emma.." I point my finger and retort, "Now, don't jump to conclusions Kaylie..."

"Oh, I'm sorry, am I sending some history between you two?" Chloe spoke to me and Kaylie. "Oh, Mikayla Hajsenovik, last year's model." Kaykie comments and I roll my eyes sarcastically saying, "That's cute.."

Pulling Nate and Chloe to the side I say, "I'm so glad you two are finding this funny." Chloe replies, "Well, it's just I never figured you of all people would be into girls and be into the white bread piclet fence type."

Blushing hard, I say, "You have the wrong idea Chloe, first of all, I'm straight, and second of all, Mikayla is my old partner that used to go treasure hunting with me. We parted ways a year ago and I just never expected to see her here is all."

Chloe replies saying, "Oh, okay. But seriously we have to get moving you two." Taking I deep breath I state, "They're coming with us Chloe." Nate nods in agreement with me and Chloe responds, "They're only going to slow us down, and if Lazarević catches you two with me together---' interrupting her I state, "I am not leaving them behind, Chloe. Mikayla is like a sister to me."

Getting close to both of our faces Chloe say, "You two don't always have to try to be the bloody hero every time. You what, why don't you two just dance with the one who brought you here." Before Nate can say anything, I get up in Chloe's face and retaliate by saying, "Yeah, I get it but, they're still coming with us."

Kaylie interrupts telling us, "Thanks, but we don't need saving Emma." Chloe utters a quick thank you towards Kaylie, and I tell her and Jake, "Might wanna rethink that." A chopper like the one Nate and I took down earlier flies overhead at a fair distance, and I duck down near Kaylie.

After we take out the soldiers Lazarević sent to kill Nate and I, Chloe compliments Kaylie, "You're not a bad shot for a journalist." Kaylie responds, "I've had some practice." We all keep going until we reach a river area with rapid water. "There's a ladder across on the other side, Nate and I will go get it."
