Kalpana  related  her  distress  to  her  grandparents.....and  shortly   fell asleep  on  her  grandmother's lap and  did not  stir  for two hours........and  when  she finally  did.....she  opened  her  eyes and  experienced  the  love  of  her  grandparents  surrounding  her,
,her  head  was  still  on her  grandmother's  lap  while  her  grandfather  was  holding  a  glass  of  milk
with a  huge  smile  on  his  face,''  Drink  your  milk   sweetie'',her  grandfather  held  out  the  glass  of  milk  to  kalpana....when  she  raised  her hand  to  take  the  glass  from  him  only  then  she  realised   where  she  was
'' am  sorry  grandmother' she  apologised.. and  slowly  moved  away    sheepishly..  afraid  if  she  has  caused any kind of discomfort  to  her  grandmother
'' go  freshen  up   kalpana .......''   Ranjini  smiled.......''i  will  cook   for  you..''. she  said..'' now  run  along  child''
kalpana   skipped  off  like  a  child.........chuckling  . unaware of the  worried  look  on  her  grandparents   faces
'' she   is  so  delicate  like  soft  lace     ....how  dare  that  scumbag  sanjay....he  hurt  her....i  feel  like   tearing  him  apart''
Mahesa  Bahadur  fumed  and  for  a  moment  his  eyes  fell  on  the   prized  collection  hanging  on  the  wall...the  head  and  horns  of  the seladng,,,which  had  gored  him  ages  ago.... ''we  need  to  get  sanjay  far  away  from  kalpana ''  Mahesa spoke to his  wife  ........his  eyebrow....raised  a little..
kalpana   came  back   shortly.......eyes  bright   and  alert.......she   ate  her  grandmother's  food  with  relish   and  became  chatty..and  related  almost  every thing  about  her  life  while  her  granparents  listened   ''  i'm  not  sure   what  my  future  is  going  to  be   ,,,,i  just  want  to  be  happy    ,i don't  want  riches..just   my  own  house.with  garden space  for  my  plants  ..a small  car  ...take  care  of  mum  and  dad,,,and see my  kid  brother succed  in  life...''..kalpana   choked  back  her  tears..''  Sanjay  ruined  everything
i was  so  happy  to  leave  India  for  my  project......i feel  so  sad   ...i  don't  know  what  to  do....''kalpana  could  not  hold  back  her  tears  and  sobbed   ..'........Mahesa    put  his  arm  on  kalpana  while  she  buried  her  face  in  his  chest.....seeking  comfort.....  ''shhh,,kalpana...dear....nothing  will remain  the  same  forever....i want  you  to  put  your  trust  in  God...completely''Mahesa Bahadur  consoled  his  weeping  granddaughter''kalpana  wept  bitterly...her  small  frame  shaking  so  badly.....her  grandmother   rushed  to  the room  and  came  back  with  a  small  wolly   blanked  and  gently  paced  it  over  kalpana,,,,who  immediately  felt  the  warmth  of  the  blanket her   and  grandparents  love...hoping  silently  her  situation  would  change   for  the better.....little  did  she  realise  that  her  world was going  to  take   the  worse  turn  and  push  her  to  the  edge  of  her  life.....
back  home  in  India.....her  father's  landlord  was   showing  his  ugly   colors  of  trying  to  hike  up  the  rental of  the  three rooms   flats   kalpana  lived  with  her  parents  and  kid  brother.....everything  was  waiting  to  explode  and  waiting  for  the  wee girl  kalpana,,,,,,in  her  young  age     kalpana   was   imposed  with  the  family  responsibilty....which  she  carried,,not  a  minute  shirking  it.......though  she  secretly   had  big  plans  and  dreams......about  to  be  shattered   

Else where      in  a dark alley   a  man  walked  slowly  with  a  sack  on  his  shoulders....he  had  a  ski  mask  on....he  had  a  smirk  on  is  face,,,satiisfied  with  what  ever  he  had  done
he   kicked..  a  cat   so  viciously    .  the  poor  cat  had  crossed  his   path  ,,,it  went  flying  into  a  stinking   drain......a  pained  meow !! then  silence....he  walked  on  till  he  reached  his  destination...a  white  audi  parked  at the  end  of   the alley
removed   his  mask ....and  gloves.....dumped  it  a  a  small  black   pouch....and  drove  away.......
raked  his  fingers   roughly   into  his   hair,,,wiped  off  the  sweat  on  his  brows  and  drove  away  into  the  silence  of  the  night.......later  he  stood  under  a  cold  shower.....before   hiding  the  sack  in  an  old  trunk....and   sprawled  on  a  bed   which   was  reeking  of  alchohol.............tomorrow    he  has  a  new  place  in  mind..........nothing  was   lost ..every  damn   thing  he  did  was perfect  gain.
