Getting settled in

You and Peter stroll out of the conference room and into the vast hallways of the avengers facility.

"Peter, how on earth do you know where your going?" you know the answer that you want, the truthful answer. Peter felt beads of sweat form in his palms.

"Welllllll ... I come here quite often. From the Stark internship." Peter stutters and looks down at the floor as he speaks. You stop walking and turn towards Peter. You give him a I know your lying to me type of look and Peter began to play with his hands behind is back. "What are you looking at?" he asked.

"Peter. I'm not stupid. You can either tell me or don't but either way I know what's going on. I know why you had to go to Germany, I know why you disappear after school, I know why you know your way round the facility and I know why you know the avengers. Please don't make me say it."

"Is it really that obvious?" you and Peter chuckle in your awkwardness.

"Maybe not to everyone, but it is to me." The silence you shared was suspenseful. It lingered in the space between you. Peter's mind raced, 'does that mean she likes me?' 'why else would it be obvious to her?". He shook his head and banished his thoughts. "Come on, Spiderman. Your supposed to be taking me to my room." you continue to giggle as you walk through the empty hallways.

"This is it. My room is only next door if you need anything" Both of you stand at the doorway of a plain and bland room, consumed by the afternoon light streaming in through the windows. "Go in, have a look around." Peter instructed. You waltz in, twisting and twirling in every empty space in the room. You run her fingers along the desk in the corner, play with the buttons on the TV mounted to your wall, jump face first onto your made bed. In the midst of the laughter consuming the room, you look at Peter. He stands in the door way, enchanted by your laughter, consumed by your energy, bewitched by you.

"What?" you ask, mocking him.

Peter shakes his head to wake himself up from his day dream, "Nothing, nothing." you step out of the bed and walked up to Peter.

"Do you maybe want to give me a tour?"

From downstairs, Happy's voice echoed through the facility. "Y/n! Your stuff is here!"

"I might need a rain check on that tour. Maybe tomorrow morning before training?" you run off and down the stairs. As you reach the bottom of the stairs, Steve walks around the corner. "Hi, Y/n. Can I help you with anything?"

"Uh that would be amazing, thank you so much. I can take most of the boxes up but I don't think I can reach some of the shelves in my room." You chuckle as you turn around to see Steve with every single box effortlessly piled up onto his shoulders and held in his arms as he walks past you. You obviously find this very unattractive, a big tall man flexing his muscles, absolutely repulsive. Your face turns red as you push her hair behind her ear. "Or that works." You smile at him and he smiles back. When you got to your room, Steve put down the boxes and starts to help decorate the room, hanging up pictures and placing plants on shelves while you put away your clothes.

"I heard talk of a party." Steve stated.

"For what?" you ask.

"For you apparently."

"For m-" With the swirling confusion of the day, you had completely forgot your birthday was in 2 days. "He remembered my birthday?" a smile consumes your face.

"I think you doubt how important you are to him." Steve walks over to her you and places his hand on your shoulder. "I have a feeling you are going to be a good part of this team." Steve smirks, "So how old are you going to be?"

"I'm turning 19." As Steve walked back to where he was standing before, you pull out a short, slim, black dress with black feathers lining the bottom and the neckline. "If there was a party, maybe you could wear that?" you look at him to see a cheeky grin from ear to ear.

"I bet you would like that, wouldn't you Rogers." Steve shrugs and giggles as he walks back to his place. As the two of you finished up, Bruce stormed in.

"Y/n, can you really quickly come down to the lab? I think I have something for you." Bruce quickly turns around and walks back down to the lab.

"Does he not realise I have no clue where I'm going?" The two of you laugh again.

"I can take you down there. I'm trying to learn a bit about all of this science stuff anyway." you giggle as you walk out of the room.

"I bet you miss the good old days when the weirdest thing science created was you, eh?"

"It was a shock when I woke up that was for sure. I was working with one of my first friends' son and now granddaughter apparently." As you walk into the lab, Bruce rushes over to you.

"Put this on." He didn't even look up at you before speeding back over to his desk. You look down into the palm of her hand where Bruce had placed a ring. A silver wire band with what looked like a raw sapphire entangled in it. You place it on her right ring finger and look cluelessly at Bruce.

"Try and do something. Try and make that magnet come towards you and stop it right before it touches your hand." Bruce rushes over to another desk, clicked on his computer a couple times until a screen popped up and started recording her.

You adjust your stance and push your hand out. Small sparks danced on your palms as you prepare.

"Ready?" Bruce asks.

You confirm. "Ready."
