You Make Me Weaken

I have decided that today I am going to ask Sydney to be my girlfriend; I really hope she says yes. I am planning to do the cheesy serenade from her yard. I’ll do the ol’ ‘throw the pebble at the window’ bit then I’ll sing her one of R5’s songs. It’s the perfect ratio of romantic to funny. It’s like I’m a living RomCom.

I get home after I drop Sydney of at Candy’s and I walk into the house and throw the keys on the table. “I’m home!” no one answers. Oh well. I take off my shoes and plop myself down on the couch and turn on the TV. May as well watch Romeo and Juliet to get me in the romantic mood. As the movie begins someone speaks behind me. I jump out of my seat and let out a high-pitched squeal. You can’t blame me, I thought I was alone. “And where were you?” I turn to see Rydel in the doorway.

“Just stayed the night at a friend’s house”

“Oh yeah? Is this ‘friend’s name, by any chance, the same as a city in Australia?”

“There may be a chance of that” I release hesitantly, my face growing a slight red. “Please don’t tell anyone else”

“Aw why not?” She pouts.

“Well tonight I’m going to ask her to be my girlfriend, if she says yes… well you can tell whoever you so desire”

“Aw how cute, and she’ll say yes Ross, have you met yourself? Girls go goo-goo over you” She laughs, her comment makes me blush because I know she’s right. Even though there are thousands of girls going crazy over me, I’ve never had a serious girlfriend; I’ve only ever been on a few dates. So I’m kind of nervous.

“You really think she’ll say yes?” I ask hopefully.

“Oh my god Ross, of course she will, you are awesome!”

“Thanks Rydel” I smile, comforted, I am now more confident than ever. Maybe I should go figure out what song I’m going to play. I grab my acoustic guitar and head up to my room.

*Sydney POV*

‘Almost closing time. Almost closing time.’ I think to myself while I’m watching the clock. Two minutes left. I have been so anxious today because I can’t stop thinking of Ross. I can’t wait to see him again. DING! The timer I had set earlier went off, signaling I can shut down the shop. I take off my apron and put it on my hook. I grab my purse and take my keys out locking the door behind me. I leave Candy’s and wait a few minutes at the bus stop for the bus to arrive. I hop on the blue bus and it drives me home. “Bye Sam” I say as I leave the bus.

“See ya later Sydney” The bus driver replies. I head up the stairs and find apartment number ‘3’. I reach for the keyhole in the door knob so I can unlock it when I discover my door has been kicked in.

“Hello?” I inquire as I open the door slowly, cautiously.

*Ross POV*

Its six, that means Sydney closed Candy’s an hour ago, she should be home. I pack all the equipment I need and drive down to her apartment. I walk to the patch of grass below Sydney’s window and begin to set my equipment up. I hear some loud noises and yelling coming from Sydney’s apartment. She must be watching some crime show on TV, like CIS or something. I continue to set up. I brought candles so first I arrange those, then I notice there is a flower garden in the back yard so I go over and gather some bunches of flowers to place them around the candles. Once I do so I take out a match and just as I’m about to strike it, the realization dawned on me.

*Flashback*

I take a step into Sydney’s apartment; I take a look at my surroundings. To the right I see a kitchen with white tile counters and very few cabinets, a kettle on the stove and an old refrigerator. I see what would be considered the living room. There’s a small couch with an even smaller coffee table in front of it. The table has about twenty magazines on it along with some coasters “Wait, where’s your TV?”
