Eve stayed up all night crying. "Why am I crying? She's not even dead!"

Eve sneaks downstairs at 3 AM and grabs about 9 cups of Greek yogurt because her throat is really dry.

"I'm such a mess..." Eve says shoving a spoonful of yougurt in her mouth. She hasn't even washed her hair yet.

A few hours later at 7 AM her dad wakes her up, her hair messier than ever, cups scattered, yogurt all over her face.

"Is there something you need to tell me?" Her dad asked.

    "Well...Fawn...she..." Eve says all droopy.

    "She what?"

    "She has...leukemia."

    "...I'm very sorry Eve I-"

    "It's fine. Really."

"You want to go visit her?"

    "..That'll be fine. Thanks."

They drive to the hospital and go up to Fawn's room. Eve slowly opens the door. Fawn still has general anesthesia on her. She has these tubes going in her arms and legs. Eve grasps Fawn's hand really tight, praying that she'll get better. Her dad places his hand on her shoulder.

    "Okay I'm good..."

They get back home and Eve stays in her room all weekend.

On Monday, Eve walks alone to school and she sees Elizabeth standing by her locker.

"Hey Eve. Heard what happened to Fawn. You okay?" Elizabeth asks.

"I don't want to talk about it. I don't even know why I'm even sulking about this. She's not even dead."

    "But she's d-ying."
Eve stares at her with her deep blue eyes.

"Sorry, that didn't help." Elizabeth says scratching her with that little shy smile of hers. Eve laughs at Elizabeth's cute face which for some reason makes her feel happier. But nothing makes her happier than being with Fawn.

All day, Eve practically ignored Matthew. Once the bell rings, Elizabeth goes to Eve and says, "You're still not talking to him?"

"Why should I?" Eve says crossing her arms.

Elizabeth frowns, "Eve, this is not you. You should act more considerate to him. You should have forgave him by now! He feels really bad! I mean...look at him!" She shows her hand to Matthew sitting down on the bench, sulking.

Eve looks down, "Okay maybe I was a little to harsh on him..."

    "A little?"

"Okay, okay, I was pretty harsh on him. But what good does it do? I'm...just not into him anymore.."

"That's because you're still pretty mad at him. You've liked him practically all your life and you're not gonna like him just because of one argument?"

    Eve shrugs.

"Come on," Elizabeth says pushing her towards Matthew, "Apologize."

"Oh, hey..um...Eve..." Matthew says, "It's okay if you don't want to talk to me anymore..."

"No. Not at all. I came to apologize."

    "R-really?"

"Yeah, I've acted kind of rude for the pass few days-"

"And a total bitch!" Elizabeth interrupts from behind.

Eve and Matthew look back at Elizabeth like she murdered someone. She raises her hands and backs away.

"Anyways. Um..I'm really sorry," Eve apologizes, "Oh my god I feel really really bad!!" Eve covers her face blushing.

"It's alright, Eve. I forgive you. I'm...sorry too. For not being a better brother towards my sister. I just wasn't...thinking right. I was just caught up in the dance and...you understand..right?"

"I understand completely." Eve says laughing a little. Now they're just staring at each other which felt like forever, until Elizabeth showed up right between them.

"Hey guys! I got to go my car is here!" Then she skips all the way to her car.

"So uh...you want to go visit Fawn?" Matthew asks scratching the back of his shaggy brown hair.

"Sure. But I'll have to wait until my dad comes so he can decide. What about yours?"

    "Same."

Eventually Eve's dad comes. Eve knocks at the window and he slides it down.

    "What's up?"

"Um..can me and Matthew go visit Fawn?" Eve asks.

"Hm...sure but let me call Fawn's mom to make sure. After a 2-minute talk he hangs up. "Yes you may go. I'll drive you over there. Be out of the hospital at 7:00 PM. Right now it's about...4:30. So you have about two hours at the most."

They both nod and enter the car.

"Thanks for the ride, Mr. Rodgers," Matthew says.

    "Anytime."
