Fawn
"Miss Hamilton?"
I turn around to see a large man walking up to me, a police badge attached on the waistline of his grey plaid trousers. Suspenders containing his fitted, tucked in, button up shirt are hooked through the straps of his trousers and a striped, dark blue and purple tie hangs around his shirt's collar. A silver watch is attached to his left wrist and a wedding ring around his left ring finger.
He has a kind, welcoming smile on his face as I nod and walk up to him. He offers me his hand and I shake it firmly, which issues a small chuckle from his lips. "Wow, I knew that you'd be strong, but that's a pretty firm grip you've got there!" He exclaims, which makes me smirk slightly. "I'm Terry Jeffords, I'm your sergeant."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sergeant, I am really looking forward to working in this precinct," I reply as we enter a lift to take us up to my new work place. In the minute or so that we're in the lift, Terry tells me that the rest of the team are currently in a meeting with the Captain, so he'll take me into his office and take over the meeting so I can be introduced to my new boss.
The doors to the lift open and I see the bullpen I'll be working in from now on. The room is very spacious and I can clearly see a small kitchen like area, work desks scattered around the room, a break room, what looks like an office and a meeting room. I clearly figure out the meeting room from the distant voices inside.
Terry leads me to the Captain's office and then leaves to take over the meeting from him, so I stand in the office and look around. Everything is clean and organised very professionally, the Captain's medal of valour is hung in a photo frame and there are only a few other photos hung on the walls, containing either newspaper clippings or photos of work colleagues.
I hear footsteps approach the door so I turn around and see the face of Captain Raymond Holt. His face contains not an ounce of emotion other than seriousness and his uniform is incredibly clean and smart; his white shirt is buttoned up all the way, his dark blue tie is tied sharply, his badge on the front is polished, the belt holding his trousers up is attached tight and his black shoes are polished like his badge.
"Ah, you must be Fawn Hamilton," he states as he holds out his hand for me to shake. I nod and shake his hand, which makes the corner of his mouth turn up ever so slightly. "Good handshake, nice and firm," he comments as he sits down in his office chair and motions for me to sit opposite him. "Thank you, Sir, Sergeant Jeffords said something similar."
He nods his head and then proceeds to say how impressed he was with my resume and how quickly I got through the academy. "My training and the time I spent in the army served me well," I briefly explain. "Yes, my condolences for what happened, that must have been hard for you," the Captain replies and I quickly nod, trying to express my distaste for talking about what happened that made me leave in the first place.
"But you are here now and judging from what I've read and heard, I'm sure you are going to excel in this precinct," he changes topics, which shows me that he can read people quite easily. I thank him and then he asks if I would like a brief background on the people that I'll be working with. "Yes, I would appreciate that," I reply. He stands up and walks over to the office window, so I get up and when I look out of the glass, I see that the room is now filled with police officers and detectives. I also see a door that leads to a small roof area outside, which must be a nice place to quickly go and get some air.
"Over there is Detective Rosa Diaz, she is very good at her job, excellent at defence and is extremely tough. You do not want to get on her bad side, but I'm sure you would be able to handle yourself."
I look over at the dark haired woman. My eyes are immediately drawn to her black leather jacket, which suits her incredibly well and reminds me of mine back home. Her all black outfit compliments her dark eyes nicely and after seeing her nearly break her computer screen with her hands, I instantly know that I'm going to like her rough attitude.
"Detective Charles Boyle, he is also a good detective, but can get occasionally get distracted. He loves his food and I mean loves it, so keep that in mind."
I see the man sat as his desk, eating what looks like an extremely fancy sandwich and he seems to be savouring every bite the best that he can. He does indeed look pretty fascinated with food. His facial expressions show kindness and a sense of gentleness, his uniform is fairly smart and he is very smiley.
"Detectives Hitchcock and Scully. They don't really do anything," Captain Holt says and after looking at the two men - slobbering over their computer keyboards whilst slurping noodles in a very messy manner - I take a mental note to never be around them whilst they are eating messy foods.
"Gina Linetti, she's my assistant and she doesn't do a whole lot either, but she has a unique smartness to her. She is very into her mobile device and is often on social media."
The brunette woman sat at the desk in front of the office is indeed on her phone, laughing at what looks like a cat meme, well, that's what I can see as I peer through the half open blinds. But she looks like she could be very fun to be around, as I get a sense that she's very quippy and often issuing out smart comebacks.
"Detective Amy Santiago is incredibly organised and smart, she will always get her job done on time, her reports are always thorough and descriptive, plus she is very kind-hearted."
The woman dressed in a sharp, maroon coloured suit with a light blue, button up shirt does indeed have a kind smile on her face as she flicks through pages in a folder. Her dark brown hair curls in certain places, her posture is upright and from the speed she writes, I can indeed tell that she's very smart.
"And our last detective is currently in the field right now, trying to solve a large drug bust, but if you join the team for drinks tonight at Shaw's Bar, you'll be able to meet him then," Holt says, so I nod my head and after some brief discussion about how they deal with things around here, he leads me out of his office and into the bullpen.
"Attention, precinct!" He addresses, everyone's heads turn to look over at the Captain and me next to him. "Please welcome the newest edition to the Nine-Nine, Detective Fawn Hamilton." A scattered round of applause follows his comment, so I smile and thank everyone, before adding that I'm looking forward to working with everyone and getting to know them all.
"Detective Hamilton will be joining us for drinks tonight, so make sure you introduce yourselves to her and make her feel welcome," Holt adds before he points to one of two empty desks next to Amy, so I walk over and as everyone gets back to work, Amy stands and eagerly holds out her hand.
"Welcome to the Nine-Nine! I'm Amy Santiago," she introduces with a warm smile on her face. I smile back and shake her hand back. "It's nice to meet you," I reply, glad that Amy's kind front isn't just an act, she does generally appear like a very kind person.
