Pairing: Draco Malfoy x Male! Reader
Warnings: none
Fandom: Harry PotterEven with the chatterbox sitting next to you and the fact that you only had about 10 cumulative minutes of silence, the train ride wasn't all bad. But you had to admit, you could've done without Draco's persistent questioning though.
When the train comes into the station, you get a text from your older brother telling you where to meet them. You and Draco get off of the train and meet up with your family, saying goodbye to a couple of friends along the way, except Draco, of course.
"(Y/n)! It seems like I haven't seen you in ages, man! You got uglier, somehow," your brother says sarcastically and your mom smacks the back of his head. "Hey!"
You roll your eyes. "Yeah, it's good to see you, too." You go in for the One-Arm-Pat-on-the-Back-Hug, but (b/n) engulfs you in a complete bear hug. An action you weren't expecting but welcomed.
Then, your mom and dad immediately pull you in for a huddle hug. All the while, Draco just stands to the side, waiting for the perfect moment to introduce himself. As weird it may sound, he wouldn't mind just waiting forever. But just as he thinks he should walk over, you're speaking up again, "Where's everyone else?"
Your dad points his head in the direction of the train just as your other brother and younger sister get off the train. "Here they come now."
"Mom! Dad!" your sister pouts. "(Y/n) didn't sit with us this time!"
"Yeah, that's because he was sitting with his boyfrien-"your younger brother teases, but before he could finish, you're already correcting the both of them.
"I never said you couldn't sit with us."
Of course, Draco notices how the only thing you feel needs to be explained is the seating arrangement, not the fact that your brother just called him your boyfriend. And now, not only is he standing awkwardly away from your family, he's fumbling for something to pay attention to other than that thought causing his face to burn; checking his luggage, looking at his phone, anything.
"Right!" Your mom shakes your shoulder a bit, like she's had a realization. "The boy you're bringing home, Draco, where is he?"
You look back at Draco and immediately notice how uncomfortable he seems. Incidentally, you thought the reason he looked so miserable was because you didn't correct your brother when he called him your boyfriend.
You practically pull Draco by his arm closer to your family and you actually feel bad for not introducing him sooner. Not to mention, the two of you have never had the conversation of where either of you stand on sexuality so you're not entirely sure if he's upset.
"So, uh, this is Draco. He's my friend, not- not my boyfriend."
(B/n) speaks up quickly when no one makes a move, "it's great to meet you, Draco." He smiles and shakes his hand.
When you look to your mom and dad, you're met with questioning looks. They somehow look more surprised at the fact that you two are not dating.
After what feels like a minute of awkward staring your dad says, "yes, of course Draco is just a friend! It's nice to finally meet you, son." Your dad shakes his hand as well. "We should get a move on, yes?"
Everyone mumbles some kind of agreement and you can't help but think about what Draco will say when the two of you are alone. Meanwhile, he's thinking the exact same thing. He might've been planning on starting the 'I'm hopelessly in love with you at the moment' conversation when you have a moment alone.
His mind is made up completely and because he's so sure of his plan, he begins to calm down a bit more. He keeps reminding himself about all the things that point to you feeling the same in hopes of keeping up his courage.
All of a sudden, you notice the tension in his shoulders diminish visibly. Overall, his rigid demeanor did a complete 180. He looks... confident? It was something you haven't seen in him this past week. The closer it came to holiday break, the more fidgety he got. But now, you're seeing the good parts of old Draco again. It was also something that, whether you wanted to admit it out loud or not, you find attractive.

Once at home, your parents tell everyone to unpack and wash up for dinner. So, you showed Draco to your room to put his things away for the time being. Knowing your siblings, you'd probably be the last to the bathroom, therefore you didn't rush.
As soon as Draco walks through the door he pauses and takes everything in. "This cannot be your room!" He seems to have completely forgotten about the decision to talk to you about certain things the first chance he got.
"W-what? Why not?" you laugh, taken by surprised. Not being here for awhile has made you forget about what's in this room, but you know it's not lame. So, that reaction wasn't exactly what you were expecting to hear when showing him around for the first time.
Still, Draco walks around while picking something up and making a snide remark about it. You shake your head and attempt ignore his rambling about how you 'have a very muggle taste in music,' all the while trying to clear a space for him.
"(Y/n), come on! Your room is lame," he groans but still sets the little nicknack back on your desk gently.
"No, it's not!" giggling at how Draco has completely abandoned putting away his things and has taken to lowkey ridiculing your room. Not that he was putting things away himself to begin with.
He scoffs, picking up a book and waving it. "Where's the personality, (y/n/n)?"
"What did you- when did you start calling me that?"
He walks closer to you and when he speaks his voice is tinged with concern. "I'm sorry, it just came out." He shakes his head, like even he didn't realize he called you (y/n/n). "Do you not want me to call you that?"
"No, no, I like it. It's cute," you say as you go back to putting your things away, trying not to think about it very much. You were going to tell him where he could put his clothes but Draco spoke before you did.
"Fitting for you then," his voice is quiet, almost like he didn't want you to hear.
Your actions stutter slightly but you brush it off. "Hm?"
Draco stands next to you, picking up one of the shirts on your bed and folds it neatly. It's now or never, right? "Well, it's just, sometimes I wonder how you can be so oblivious."
When he sees you mess up folding a dress shirt one too many times, he gently takes it. "Don't worry, I've got this one."
Your only response is a quiet murmur of a thank you and he continues, "and sometimes, I wonder how I can be so, as you lovingly put it, thick."
You laugh a little but, still, you had to admit that you have no idea what he's getting at. Well, you have some idea but you don't want to get your hopes up. "I'm not sure I understand what- what you're trying to say here."
"(Y/n), I think I'm falling in love with you." His body language is confident, but his voice is soft.
His words haven't sunk in yet, and you look at him dumbfounded. "You- you what?" In all honesty, you think you misheard him, but you hope you didn't.
He puts a hand on the side of your face, his thumb brushing over your cheekbone. "I'm falling in love with you." He takes a deep breath and continues, "you mean more to me than I could ever put into words.
"So, if you let me, I will spend as long as it takes to show you." Draco keeps his eyes on yours, searching for any signs of uncomfortableness or, the more wanted option, reciprocation.
You don't really understand how he's so calm but the soft way he speaks calms you too. Your eyes close and you subconsciously lead your head into his hand. You open your eyes when you feel a second hand run through your hair. "So, show me."
A blush creeps up his neck and it seems his confidence has faltered slightly, but he still smiles at you. With closed eyes, he presses his forehead against yours. "Can I kiss you, (y/n/n)?"
You let out a breathy laugh, "I wouldn't be opposed."
