"Hey Clay" you greeted as you approached the ticket booth at the movie theatre as you attempted to pull your wallet out of your pocket.
Clay shot you a small smile in return.
"Hey [Y/N]. Ticket for one?".
"No man, I'm here with a date" you explained rather proudly with a chuckle as you handed him your money "two tickets for that horror movie playing tonight".
"Cool. You're lucky dude. Wish I could find myself a girlfriend" Clay said shooting Hannah Baker, who was working the snack table a disappointed glance. You raised an eyebrow at his response. Right... girlfriend...
"Finally found a place to park" Alex announced jogging up beside you. Jeez it seemed to take him forever to find a place for his car. Good thing he was here now though, things were just starting to get awkward.
"You here with someone else Alex?" Clay said looking behind the two of you, probably to see if there was anyone else approaching.
"Your dates taking a long time huh [Y/N]?".
You cringed.
"Ah Clay... Alex is my date...".
Clay for a moment looked extremely puzzled. Then you watched uncomfortably as the wheels started to turn in Clay's head and immediately his cheeks started to flush with embarrassment.
"Sorry I didn't know".
"It's cool man. Can I just er... have our tickets?" You laughed hesitantly. Clay nodded, scrambling to slide you your tickets.
"Sorry again guys. Enjoy the movie" he said waving to you andAlex as you walked off. Unfortunately encounters like the one you just had with Clay wasn't too uncommon.
"That was something wasn't it?" You said after you two grabbed your snacks and entered the theatre. Alex snickered in response.
"Yeah but Clay's a good guy. I wouldn't take it personally. You know I don't think he's even realized Tony is gay yet".
"Seriously? The poor kid has to get out more" you smirked "You're right though, can't say I've ever heard a bad thing about Clay Jensen" you shrugged taking a seat. You thought that was the end of the conversation and the two of you were going to shut up and pay attention to the movie now but apparently that wasn't the case.
"We haveonly been a couple of dates pointed" Alex pointed as if you didn't know "I mean they've been grey but it's not like we're a couple. Or at least we haven't announced ourselves as one" he muttered the last part. You gave him a strange look.
"I was under the impression that you didn't want to tell your jock friends that you were into dudes. They don't exactly seem like the most supportive type".
"Who gives a fuck about them?" Alex replied instantly without hesitation. That took you off guard. You didn't have a problem with the school knowing you had a boyfriend but you thought Alex wanted to keep up his useless reputation, but apparently not. That just convinced you he was perfect boyfriend material.
"Woah, really? Well then Mr Standall would you like the incredible honour of being this boy's boyfriend?" You asked with a grin.
"I think that would be fucking great" he replied leaning in to peck you on the lips just as the couple a few seats in front of you told you to shut up. In sync you both shot them middle fingers causing the two of you to laugh. Maybe this whole finally having an actual boyfriend thing wouldn't be too bad.
