goodbyes.

adele and ginny never were good at them. maybe it was because they knew the only thing that mattered would never leave. they would never have to say those dreaded words.

but, when they were wrapped in the arms of the red headed family, the words stung. like a bee sting to their tongues.

like a thorn from a flower so gorgeous.

tears fell like petals. one by one, the flower would fall apart.

dread, grief. the days after the war had been nothing but a black hole. yes, stars shone brightly around it. made it seem better. alluring. but, it didn't hide that they would fall into it, getting trapped forever.

that's what ginny and adele were doing. falling.

they had chased a white rabbit into the forest. curious and oblivious. followed their dreams ― their life they wished they had ― around blindly. put too much faith into hope.

then, the rabbit lured them to that hole in the tree. jumped, expecting them to follow. and they did. falling down.

down.

down.

they were far from reaching the bottom, and they knew it. far from reaching the end.

when molly had pulled adele into her arms, saying those horrid words, she spoke in a whisper for only her to hear.

'in all my years, i have never seen a love like the one you two share.' the mother pulled away, silent tears falling. 'make sure she's happy, that's all i ask.'

the younger witch looked up, nodding her head while a tear fell down her cheek.

'i think, truthfully, she's always needed you more than us.'

with the final sting of the bee ― of the thorn ― they walked out of the home ginny once knew, reading to find a new one.

'ready to go, love?' ginny took adele's hand in hers.

'more than anything.'

and with that, they left everything they knew behind. ready to fall with one another ― for one another.

whatever happened, they were ready.
