Game over.

Greg is coming over in about two minutes! I was all over the place, mostly due to the fact that I had to tell him good news but also because he was my crush.

I heard the door bell ring and the door opening. My heart jumped! I knew he was here. Greg does not have a clue that I have a crush on him. It started around ten years ago when I first met Greg. We were both six and were at a birthday party. Both of us did not really join the other kids but Greg approached me and asked me " Wanna play a game? You can play as my friend."

Ever since then, I saw Greg more often and eventually I developed a crush on him overtime.

Oh, and the good news? I finally get to transfer to Greg's highschool as a Sophomore after begging my parents for a year, making up excuses as to why his school was better. Well for one, Greg was there and for two, it was actually a better school than my old highschool which I hated for a year. I was close to being a conplete loner.

"Na..." Hmm? Someones calling for me "Na..." It sounds like Greg.

"Nana!" Greg's face was infront of mine. His hands waving infront my face.

"Ah!" I fell backwards from my sitting position on the floor. That scared me.

"Finally you have finished spacing out." Greg sat next to me with our arms touching.

I blushed hard for the next few seconds from the realization that I zoned out infront of Greg and because our arms are making contact!

"It's always nice to come here and talk to you." Greg breathes out.

My heart thumped.

"So? Any ideas for the rest of the day?"

"What? I thought you already planned it?"

"Nope."

"Wow Nana... well, wanna head to the beach? We won't be swimming but maybe we could walk around?"

"Sounds great, lets go now."

We both headed downstairs and Greg went outside to start the car.

"Mom! Greg and I are going to walk around the beach!" I shouted to my mom, who was in the kitchen.

"Okay! Be safe. It's five o'clock now. I expect you back by seven, before dinner."

"Love you Mom, bye!" I slammed the door shut, put on my flip-flops and walked over to Greg's four-wheel-drive, slipping into the seat next to his.

During the ride, it was quiet. My eyes voluntarily started checking Greg out. His tank top fitted perfect over his body, his large hands on the steering wheel, the muscles in his arms and most of all, his face. He had a cute handsome face, always attracted looks from girls whenever we went out.

"We're here. Stop zoning out again or I'll lock you in the car." Greg playfully poked me.

I shot a playful glare and got out his car. We walked along the path, looking at the shops, stalls and the beach view. It was beautiful, with the sun going down. There were a few couples strolling on the beach together. So romantic.

Turning my head to my left, I see Greg who was just calmly strolling, looking ahead. He was always looking ahead. Never looking at me. I felt a little upset. At times he would be able to easily lead me on, giving me hope that maybe, just maybe, he liked me back but it was moments like these that always made me doubt.

Cool breeze in the air gave us a more relaxed atmosphere, and we continued to quietly stroll along the pathway until we made our way onto the beach.

How long had it been? Just walking side by side quietly next to each other. I hope it had only been 20 minutes. I caught a glance at the big clock on the pathway. It had been an hour and a half already. Time flew so fast!

I pouted in slight disappointment. Why can't this last forever? How is it that time go by so quickly. Not fair. But I noticed how beautiful the sun had gotten, reflecting onto the sea and onto us. It was already a dark orange color. At least we got to walk on the beach together when it looked the most beautiful at sunset.

"So, it's school in about two days. Excited?" Greg said, breaking our silence.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell him.

"Wait, I have something to tell you."

"About school?"

"Yeah."

"Go on."

"Well, I actually hid it from you for about a year, until now..."

"What? You got a boyfriend?"

I blushed slightly, "No."

"You're failing school?"

"No."

"Nevermind, tell me."

I rolled my eyes sarcastically and continued on " I'm transferring."

"Huh? What? Why? Which school?"

"Okay good news" I began excitedly, "I begged my parents to transfer for about a year and I finally got their approval, so starting from Sophomore year, I'm moving to Randwell!"

Greg had no reaction. Huh? This wasn't what I had expected. I thought he'd be excited about this. Well about us going to school together.... Awkward. Greg didn't answer, he stayed silent and continued to stroll. I strolled next to him. What was wrong? I peeked at Greg who had a slightly confused and troubled expression on his face.

"What is it?" I finally breathed out.

"It's nothing. Let's go before it gets dark."

The whole car ride back was dead silent and super awkward. His car stopped infront of my house and Greg walked me to the door.

"Dana."

I turned around. I knew it was something especially because he was calling me Dana and not Nana. That tone of his too meant business. The look on his face was serious.

"Look, how do I put this."

I tilted my head in confusion. What is he trying to say?

"This is a really dick move but, Dana, I've been using you for the past ten years."

"Huh? What do you mean? Stop joking."

"I'm not joking. I have actually been trying to tell you for awhile. I have been playing around with you and used you whenever I got bored."

I stayed silent and swallowed hard.

"I actually find you annoying most of the time, Dana. Why? Because you keep staring at me all the time, checking me out. I know you like me. But I don't feel the same way. There was no chance."

I was taken aback. " So you knew?"

"Yeah, but usually I give you hope and lead you on. That part is my fault, sorry but I'm sure you knew I've stopped that recently."

It's true, he has. For about four months now. But I didn't stop hoping. Why is Greg being mean? My eyes started to blur from the tears.

Greg sighed with a look of annoyance "Don't cry. Look, it's time to stop this children's act. I have never seen you as a friend. Just a toy to use whenever I was bored. Thats why it's annoying when you stare at me."

What did he mean? One tear streaked down my face, my eyes searching for any time he would tell me it was all a joke and comforted me. My heart was hurting, like someone was squeezing it.

"Game over." He said it with a serious tone and walked back to his vehicle. I watched as he drove away.
