Cordelia felt a slight buzzing in her head as she came to. Her memory failed her within the first couple seconds of regaining her consciousness, but it wasn't long before she heard the voices in the next room and quickly recalled everything.
Elijah appeared at her apartment door. Klaus and Elijah. For as many times as she'd dreamed of seeing him again, she knew she was putting their lives at risk just by being near them. Not to mention she was slightly ticked off at the fact Klaus had managed to drug her and worried as to what the witches would do with that emotion.
She used her vampire senses to listen in to the conversation in the adjacent room.
"You know, when we said we needed her help- I don't remember any part of the conversation pertaining to drugging her!" She heard a voice she hadn't heard in a very long time; Freya. Cordelia smiled at the memories she shared with the original witch, happy for her that she found her family.
"Look, we asked nicely and she said no! We agreed that we need her to protect Hope. My child, need I remind. So when she refused to help us, what was I supposed to do?" She heard Klaus argue back. She remembered hearing about Klaus impregnating a wolf, although she thought the child died. Oh well, it wouldn't be out of character to fake a death to protect their family.
"Well I don't much like the idea of our child's rescuer being forced to be here." Said an unfamiliar voice.
Cordelia was conflicted now. She wanted to protect the Mikaelsons, as she always had. But now, a choice seemed to face her: help them protect the baby and endanger their lives, or keep them safe but endanger the baby.
Deciding that the best course of action was to explain and offer them the choice; she stood from the couch she laid upon. Walking near the heard conversation, she purposefully quieted her footsteps so as to hear the exchange leading to her appearance.
"What exactly did she say when you asked for her help?" She heard come from Rebekah.
Elijah spoke this time, causing her breath to catch, and her movements to stop, just before the entering archway. "She said that she couldn't be near us, and she would not come." He sounded somber, which caused her heart to ache. The last thing she wanted to do was cause him pain, alas that was all she seemed capable of.
"What exactly does she mean by she 'can't be near us'?" Kol said.
She took a breath, deciding this was her moment.
"I think I can explain that." She stepped around the corner, looking at each of them. Most expressions were ones of surprise and sadness... and hurt. She hurt all of them and she knew it. It tore her apart every time she thought about it.
The hurt seemed to manifest most in Rebekah as she sped forward and slapped Cordelia.
Cordelia, who was slightly shocked, but also understood, nodded her head.
"Yeah, I guess I deserved that one." She looked back up at Rebekah, who had tears in her eyes. God she had missed her best friend. And as much as Rebekah didn't want to admit it, her anger seemed to flood away when looking into her eyes. But she had to remind herself of how she had left in the middle of the night- abandoning them.
"You left us." Rebekah said in a mix of anger and sadness.
"Yes I did. And I'm so very sorry. Just know it wasn't by choice." Delia responded, tears were welling in her eyes too.
"Well that's going to need some explanation, love." Klaus said from next to the drink cart.
She looked over Rebekah's shoulder and sighed.
"How much time ya got?"
