Sighing heavily, Cordelia stared back at the Mikaelson siblings.
"What?"
"Y-you just killed half of the New Orleans witch faction." Kol stuttered.
"Yes..." She glanced around at the pile of either unconscious or dead bodies strewn about. "Sorry about the mess. But in my defense, they started it." She smirked.
Rebekah began to chuckle, "You haven't changed at all, have you?"
Cordelia was about to reply when she heard Freya's voice from the balcony.
"Delia did you really just- did you even think- the ancestors won't be happy with you. How do you know they won't take advantage of your power?" Freya scolded her friend.
"Oh don't be a killjoy sister." Klaus called back. "That was delightfully entertaining." He winked at Delia.
She was scared now though, Freya made a good point. She could very much lose control, and if the ancestors took over they would kill the people she cared about.
"No. Freya's right I need to leave." She looked panicked. "I don't know what the ancestors will do. This is exactly what I was afraid of." She began to walk quickly toward the door.
"Delia!" She heard Elijah call behind her, but she was too focused on getting out. She didn't like what she was feeling, her breathing was becoming jagged and her vision blurry.
She knew what it felt like when she lost command over her body and her powers. It was the most helpless feeling in the world. Often she would wake up with entire buildings or cities destroyed.
She had to make it to the gate, that was the goal at the moment. She could hear voices behind her but she didn't listen.
Once she made it there, however, she couldn't pass through. She was being blocked; by what she couldn't see but she had a pretty good guess.
"Oh no." She whispered. "No no no no no." She repeated as she turned around. She saw the Mikealsons staring back at her with concerned expressions.
She began to hyperventilate, and she was losing her balance. The wind in the room began to kick up, carrying paper and other small objects with it.
"Delia?" It sounded like Rebekah's voice, but the wind grew louder and her head began to shriek with pain.
She bent over, groaning. As she did the lights sparked and blew out. She picked her head up to look back at them. They all looked shocked to see her face had vamped out.
"You all need to get out of here!" She yelled.
Klaus didn't waste any time. He grabbed Hope, who was in the bassinet in the parlor and sped away. The others were less sure.
"Delia! What's going on? Are you going to be ok?" Rebekah called.
"I said get out!" As she yelled her warning both Rebekah and Kol were blasted backwards and the wind howled louder. They both fell on the floor, knocked out.
"No no no no no no" Cordelia began backing herself in a corner, attempting to control her breathing. But it made no difference, her heart was still beating at an inhumane rate.
Freya, who was still on the balcony, ran back to her room. At least she had some sense. Elijah, however, began to slowly walk towards her.
She shook her head frantically and attempted to shove herself further in the corner. Closing her eyes, wishing it would all just go away.
"Delia." Elijah began gently, "Delia, darling please, look at me." He was nearing her now.
She shook her head again and, if possible, shut her eyes tighter.
"Please. Just look at me."
She opened her eyes and he was right in front of her. Her eyes were still red, and the veins were still present underneath them. He took her hands in his and a wave of calm washed over her. The strange sense of comfort that she hadn't been able to feel in so long. This sense of command over her own emotions, thoughts, being, all because he was near her. He trusted her.
The wind began to die down and the veins began to retreat back into her skin. Her breathing began to slow and she laughed slightly in relief. He smiled back at her and their eyes locked, feeling an intense connection to one another.
Unfortunately, just as quickly as the feeling of control came, it left. Having apparently angered the ancestors through her regained dominance over her own body, they induced an aneurysm on her. She yelled in pain and doubled over. Feeling energy expel from her hands, she felt the power rush through her, and force Elijah flying backwards.
"NO!" She screamed, "Stop! Stop it!"
She lifted her head to see Elijah on the floor groaning. She caused this. Thanks to her, the love of her life was in pain. This was her fault.
She didn't have time for guilt though as the pain doubled and the wind picked up further. She saw Freya running down the stairs as her vision went in and out of focus.
"Freya?"
"I'm here!" Her friend yelled back.
"Make it stop." She began to sob. "Please!"
'I've got it."
Cordelia was about to inquire as to what when she felt Freya take her hand, which was currently on her head, in a futile attempt to dull the pain, and slip a ring onto her finger.
The second she did this the pain stopped, the lights came back on, and the wind halted. Cordelia didn't have time to think before Freya took her by the shoulders and shook her slightly.
"Are you ok?" She asked, worriedly.
"I just almost killed your family and you're asking if I'm ok?" Cordelia chuckled, pulling her into a hug. "Thank you Freya." She whispered.
Freya just smiled and pulled away. She turned and went over to Rebekah and Kol, who were still lying on the floor.
It was at this Cordelia gasped and rushed to Elijah, remembering the damage she'd caused. He began to sit up and she offered her left hand, helping him stand.
"Are you alright? I'm so sorry. This is exactly what I was afraid of." She rambled frantically, looking him over for any injuries.
When she looked back up, she had expected to see him looking back at her; but instead, she followed his gaze and it was directly pointed at their interwoven hands. She looked down at them and that's when she realized.
The ring, the one Freya had bound her magic to. It was her engagement ring.
