Cordelia walked through the quarter. She was supposed to meet Hayley to give her some moonlight rings requested for her pack. Hayley asked her a while ago, and since Cordelia was in such a good mood of late, she had said yes.
Walking with the rings in her pocket, Delia was having to dodge many tourists. There was, of course, a festival happening , but since there always seemed to be one, she had expected this. Looking through the crowd she spotted Hayley walking down the sidewalk.
Cordelia began walking towards her, avoiding the people amongst the parade. Once she had crossed the street she looked up to make eye contact with Hayley, as she did, she witnessed as her new friend was grabbed by the arm and pulled into an alleyway.
Furrowing her brows Cordelia vamp sped around the building and to the other side of the alley, hoping to listen to what the supposed stranger wanted from Hayley before stepping in to help. Hearing the voice, she took in a sharp breath. It was Dahlia.
She'd know that voice anywhere, after all, she'd met her back in the 12th century when she'd met Freya. Apparently, she was just as psychotic and power hungry now as she was then, for she listened as she threatened Hayley.
"Well, if it isn't the mummy of the child who holds the key to all my problems."
"Dahlia." Hayley said with a voice of recognition.
"I see my reputation precedes me. Good." Dahlia said, an air of satisfaction about her.
"Now, you should know that I have no quarrel with you, and have no wish of hurting you, provided you don't stand in my way."
"You think I'm going to sit blindly by while you threaten my daughter? You're psychotic."
Cordelia heard the wolf's footsteps as she attempted to storm off, then felt a whoosh of magic and heard sounds of Hayley choking.
"My dear, you seem to be under the impression that you have a choice in this. I assure you, you don't."
She acted now. Cordelia vamp sped into the alley, catching the witch of guard and blew her back against the wall with a surge of energy.
She reached down and helped her alpha friend up, pushing her out of the alleyway as she coughed.
"Run! Get help!" She called after her, and then turned back towards the problem at hand. Dahlia was getting up now.
"Ah, it seems the mumsy wasn't alone." She had an air of vexation about her now.
"Don't do this Dahlia. Not here, not now."
"Well you certainly seem more in control than the last time we met." The elder witch observed, circling her like a bird of prey. "I remember you when you weren't so sure of yourself. All scared, and alone. Worried you'd hurt your friends. Well, if I'd known then your friends were my family, I'm not so sure I'd have taken you like I did."
Cordelia scoffed, "Your methods of teaching were cruel and senile. You despised my vampire side. I did then too, but for very different reasons." She laughed sarcastically, "You know, I didn't realize then, it was because you were jealous."
This set her off. The older of the two lunged, throwing her hands forward and sending Cordelia flying backwards into the brick wall, easily breaking her back. This gave Dahlia enough lag time as Cordelia's bones set back in place and she muttered another spell. In half a second, Cordelia was on her knees, blinded by the pain as she felt blood pour from her eyes, nose, and ears.
Moaning and screaming she could barely make out Dahlia's words, "You had everything I ever wanted. You were immortal, and you didn't have anything to pay for it! You kept your link with the ancestors, and yet were granted the ability to live forever! What have you done to earn this privilege?" The witch was screaming with rage now.
"Believe- me-" She managed out, "It's anything but a blessing." She was breathing heavily now, and losing a lot of blood, she could tell.
"Oh but it is." Dahlia's voice was low and deadly. "You have no idea what I would have done, what I will do, to gain that immortality- to be invincible."
"I never wanted this Dalia." She groaned, "Your sister forced it on me. You want immortality? Ask her!"
"My beloved sister..." She trailed off with resentment in her tone of voice. At this she seemed to gain another surge of anger and directed toward the witch hybrid in front of her. Cordelia screamed, yet again, and doubled over, clutching her now blood soaked head.
"Leave her be!" She heard Klaus's voice from somewhere on her left. She felt as they rushed in front of her and glanced up to see Klaus and Elijah sparing with their aunt; attempting to hold her back- hold her down, but her magic was too strong. She released herself from their grasp every time.
Rebekah appeared on the ground next to her. She kneeled down and put her hand on Cordelia's shoulder. "Let's get you up, come on."
As much as Cordelia wanted to, she felt as if she couldn't move. She gave Rebekah a pleading look and was about to speak when her friend was lifted into the air and her neck was, subsequently, snapped.
Cordelia looked back, wild eyed at Dahlia, who had a triumphant look on her face, and she heard Rebekah fall to the ground.
Angry, she looked to her right and Elijah was getting back up from being flung across the alley, and to her left, Klaus was knocked out cold. Elijah charged at his aunt, but yet again was met with her powerful magic. She forced his body into the air and Cordelia listened as every bone in his body began to crack. One after the other. This was the last straw.
"You shouldn't have done that." She said, low and dangerous. All previous pain forgotten, the hybrid witch stood and directed all her energy towards the ancient witch.
Cordelia's magic attacked with so much ferocity that glass windows, bottles, doors, etc., around them began to break. This barely registered in her head. All her concentration was directed at the witch in front of her. The threat in front of her. The threat to her, to her family, to the city. She had hurt her family, and she couldn't allow that to happen.
Dahlia was in the air, shaking with the amount of magic directed towards her.
"So this- is- your plan?" She choked out, "Protect- the family- that isn't even yours?"
"She's more our family than you will ever be." She heard a newly conscious Rebekah say from behind her.
"And you can go to hell." Cordelia spat.
"Maybe I will, but not today darling." And with that, there was a gust of wind and the Cordelia was blown backward, into the brick. Once she looked up, Dahlia was gone.
Breathing heavily, she assessed the situation around her. Rebekah was helping Klaus to stand, and on her right Elijah rushed towards her.
"Please, god, tell me you're alright." He questioned as he helped her to her feet. All he saw was blood, too much of it, on her face, her hair, her shirt.
Chuckling, all Cordelia responded with was, "No offense- but your aunt is a bit of a bitch."
