Cordelia thrashed, kicked, and screamed. She was rolling on the floor, wailing as loud as she could, attempting to communicate her pain.
Physically, she looked fine; nothing was amiss other than the abnormal amount of sweat. On the inside however, it felt as if every bone in her body was on fire. Not only that, but she could feel her brain being poked and prodded. But by who? That was the question.
"You failed." A voice whispered, but as they were already inside her mind, it echoed in five point one surround sound.
"Ahhhhhhhh!" Cordelia let out another scream, rolling over again with her hands clutching her head.
"You were supposed to end them. You failed your task." The female voice spoke again. It sounded so familiar... why? "And now look at the damage you've caused."
Even though her eyes were shut tight; her vision was now taken up by every single person she'd ever killed in her nine hundred years on this earth.
"No, no no no! Sop!" She screamed louder
"Cordelia?" She heard a soothing voice from far away. Too far.
"I didn't mean to!" She sobbed.
"Whatever happens next," the deafening whisper came back again. "It is on you."
"Cordelia!"
She gasped awake, sitting bolt upright in the bed. It was a dream, but not. No, someone was trying to communicate with her, she just didn't know who or about what yet.
She was still breathing heavily, and much like in her dream, she was still cloaked in sweat.
"Delia?" Elijah said with a concerned tone on her right.
Turning quickly, she saw the worry in his eyes, but was too distracted by the feeling of immense relief to notice it. Her shoulders slumped in solace and she fell back against the pillows behind her. She covered her face with her hands in an attempt to forget what she'd just experienced.
"Darling what happened?" He laid back down next to her, on his side.
"Ancestors." She said, "They um- they aren't happy with me." She removed her hands and turned her head to look at him. His jaw set, clearly angry, but he wasn't going to mention it now.
"What'd they say?" He grabbed her hand and began to play with her fingers, sending a wave of calm though her body.
She sighed deeply and responded. "They- they said I failed." She began to recall. "And that whatever happened next was my...fault..."
She sat back up slowly, her eyes turning wide. Elijah followed her up, his worry becoming more and more evident. He placed a hand on her shoulder and she turned her head to look at him, the same expression still marking her face.
"There was only one voice- how did I not see..." She paused for a moment, then said, "Your mother."

(Ok short chapter, don't hate me. But it sets up where I wanna take this perfectly. So, hopefully next chapter coming very soon)
