Chapter 8: Day Out

Shane's POV:

We both get up and walk into our bedroom and get changed into something more suitable. I put on a black shirt with black jeans as always and Lisa wears her denim shirt that has gray sleeves with her denim jeans and her cowboy boots. I always loved that shirt it looks so cute on her. We stroke corny goodbye and leave the house.

Shane: "do you want to go get something to eat at the closest restaurant or do you want to do that later."

Lisa: "let's do something else now then go get something to eat" I throw my arm round her shoulder.

Shane: "you want to head to the beach."

Lisa: "but we don't normally go to the beach," she gives me a puzzled look.

Shane: "I wanted to be a little different today" I give her a smile

Lisa: "ok"

After a couple minutes of walking from our home, we reach the beach

Shane: "It's kinda empty for a hot day" we walk along the side of Venice beach, we squeeze together as a couple bikes go past us.

Lisa: "yeah, it's never this empty even on colder days" I laugh to myself and we walk onto the beach "I'm going to kill you shane, I'm getting sand in my boots."

Shane: "take them off then," she stands in the same and I move my arm, I walk a head a couple steps and she shouts me.

Lisa: "wait, then" I watch as she struggles to take her boot of whiles trying to stay balanced, I walk up to her.

Shane: "lean on my shoulder," I crouch down to her height and she leans on me making it easier for her to take the boots off.

Lisa: "thank you" she carry her boots in her hand and we continue walking. We sit down in a familiar, part of the beach.

Shane: "do you remember the first time we sat here" I smile and she moves close to me.

Lisa: "no what," she gives me a loving gaze and I smile.

Shane: "Well, this is the same spot I realized I loved you even after what happened that day" I look off at the sea as the waves rolled in and out.

Lisa: "really that's the first time you ever told me that" I look back, Lisa cheeks go bright red.

Shane: "I always get embarrassed when telling you because we hardly knew each other then, but I always like to keep stuff like that for moments like these" she gives me a kiss on the cheek.

Lisa: "awww Shane, see this is the reason I love you, you tell me random things about how we fell in love" I pull her close into a hug and I rest my head on hers, she nudges into my chest. We stay like that for a couple minutes until we break apart and just watch the water, our fingers intertwine on the warm sand, we lay back in silence for a couple minutes. Looking at each other every couple minutes and smile, after about ten or fifteen minutes I break the silence.

Shane: "do you want to go to the drugstore and get one of those pregnancy thingies so we can find out."

Lisa: "are you sure you want to find out now."

Shane: "yes, so then we can celebrate and tell little corny she might have a little brother or sister."

Lisa: "ok, let's go now then, but I need the toilet first" we stand up remove any of the sand on us and walk back to the path, with our fingers interlocked. As we reach the path Lisa dusts of the sand off her feet and puts her boots back on. We continue to walk along and have random conversations.

Lisa: "shane do you think we should tell general, if I am pregnant."

Shane: "well, yes, but I don't know how she will take it, she'll have to deal with it if you are.... But...." i take a pause thinking.

Lisa: "what, Shane."

Shane: "we could quit working with the government and then make our own spy business where I hire people or they hire me to do their work for them. The time we don't spend working we can spend it together. But even if you're not pregnant this will be a great plan for the future."

Lisa: "yeah, that sounds like a good idea actually it will help us out now and help us out in the future."

We reach the drugstore and Lisa asks the lady behind the counter where the pregnancy tests are, the lady walks us to many different types of tests, but Lisa picks up only a couple different types and carries them back to the counter, pays then we leave.

Lisa: "What time is it" I look at the time on my phone.

Shane: "it's 5pm."

Lisa:"do you want to go drop the stuff in this bag off at home, then go to a restaurant."

Shane: "yeah, wouldn't want to walk around with the content in the bag" we both laugh.

Lisa: "can I go to the toilet quick I need it," she points at the women's toilets not that far away.

Shane: "yes, go now," she gives me a kiss on the cheek and hands me the bag and runs off I smile at her little run, I walk back towards the beach and just watch the waves. More and more people seem to be coming to the beach now must be because it looks beautiful today. I looked at the time on my phone, it's been about ten minutes what is she doing. I walk back to where the toilets are and notice no one coming out. I ask a lady to check if anyone's in there and she comes out and replying "no". Oh no what happened to her, I shout her name a couple of times but everyone just looks at me. I call my mom frantically "ummm... Hi mom Can you go pick up corny and take her to yours I kinda have to go somewhere".

Teresa: "yeah sure why so sudden."

Shane: "Oh, don't worry," I laugh a little "I just need you to look after her I'll call you back later bye" I put my phone in my pocket and walk around the little building Lisa went in. I walk around it once, twice, three times and find nothing I lean against the wall, dropping the bag and slide down. I sit there for a couple of seconds, then notice a piece of paper with my name on it.

Hi Shane, if you haven't noticed by now, but you can't find your wife call me on me on the number that's on the back of this piece of paper so I can tell you where I am keeping your lovely wife

I flip the paper over and call the number.

Alec: "oh hi Shane I wondered when you might have figured out where the paper was, you really did look like a headless chicken." He laughs down the phone. "Well, I want to make this quick so as soon as I cancel this call you will receive a message with an address so you can see your wife once again wouldn't that be fun. Oh.... And Shane be faster this time."

Shane: if you ev......" The line goes dead, my phone buzzes and get a text from the same number. I try to redial the number but get no answer.
