♡ The Zodiacs ♡

(This is a special one-shot! It might be a bit longer than the others, and I'm working extra hard on it. This is an idea I heard on tumblr, so if you know who came up with it lemme know so I  can credit them! But this is "The Zodiacs! Please enjoy.) Z/S is "zodiac sign" and C/Z/S is "crush's zodiac sign"! 

You lived in a world where every zodiac sign was seperated, and you could only be with anyone with your same zodiac sign. This was an issue, since you were in love with someone who had a different zodiac sign than you. 

It was illegal to interact with anyone of a different zodiac sign, so basically, what you were doing was illegal. But, if that's the case, then why were there only flimsy strips that blocked the zodiac factions?

They were walls, technically, but there were lots of holes in them from people trying to escape their zodiac sign, and wars that were fought over this. All of those people ended up being arrested. Your mom always warned you about that, and told you bedtime stories of how her and your father fell in love, as two Z/S's. But, that's not what you wanted for yourself. You wanted a world where all of the zodiac signs could live in peace and harmony. A place where we wouldn't have to worry about Cancers and Capricorns fighting, just because they are on the opposite spectrum. 

There was once, you heard... that someone wrote a piece of literature, that told who the zodiac signs were actually compatible with... but that was just a legend. Just a folk tale told by little kids who are still discovering themselves.

When we are kids, we are allowed to interact with other zodiac signs. I think they allowed this, because kids are kids and supposedly they can't have very large attachments, but you don't believe that. And also, maybe so that we can build up a strong hatred for other zodiacs at a young age. But you don't believe in this especially because, when you was a kid, you knew this C/Z/S.... who was the sweetest girl you ever met. 

And you fell in love with her.

You never told anyone this, not even your best friends, whom you met in middle school, so they are also Z/S's... 

They only let us interact with other zodiac signs until we are about 5 years old.

One day, long after you were separated from C/N, you found a way to communicate again, secretly.

Through the holes in the walls.

Every day from 5 years old to about 13, we would meet late at night, long after curfew. 

But after 13... you both became too busy. Now you don't see each other as much as you would like too. 

From 13, the government makes everyone get jobs. You have a job right now of separating zodiac babies in the factory. So, I suppose you still do get to see other zodiacs. But only to seperate them from your society, into a total different one. Each district has a factory, which only people of their own zodiacs work at. But... there is another place, outside of our districts. It is called "The Unknown".

The Unknown, you ask? That's where no one is allowed to go. The government made it so that, you can't leave your factions. The Unknown is called that because no one has been out there, no one knows what it is like.

Anyways, back to your story.

Tonight was the night. Since they doubled up on security, you only see each other once a year now, since it takes so much planning. 

You snuck out at around midnight, since our curfew was at 10, and everyone was asleep by then.

I reached the stone cold wall, filled with holes and markings from past battles. You think about how happy you are that you weren't alive when people were being thrown into battle, to fight for the zodiacs.
