Shadow's P.O.V.
"Hey Shadow, are you gay?"
I looked at Scourge with a face that said, "are you f*cking serious?"
"I'm just wondering, man, 'cause you kind of seem gay."
"That's ridiculous, I'm not gay." I lied as I dodged kids in the hallway on the way to my last class of the day.
"Really?"
"Yes." Lie.
"Then why haven't you asked someone to the Prom yet?"
"You're stupid." Not a lie. I tried to push past him, but he stood in front of me.
"Just answer my question!"
I groaned at the udder idiocy of all this. "I guess it's because I'm not ready to make a commitment to a relationship. Is that good enough for you?!"
"Yes, thank you." Scourge said in the sweetest voice imaginable for him which made me groan again. I quickly shoved past him and up the stairs to my class.

Sonic's P.O.V.
"I'm not gay." Shadow's voice echoed in my ear. I had overheard everything he said to Scourge. It shouldn't have made me feel as bad as it did. I mean, I never had a chance with him anyway, so who am I kidding? I should just go to prom with Amy! At least she would want to go with me.
As I sat on the bus bench after exiting my last class, I thought about what happened at lunch today.
:Flashback:
I was staring at Shadow again. I couldn't help it! I loved everything about him. The way his eyes shined in the light. The face he made when he was trying not to laugh at something. The rainbow strap on the satchel he always carried around. I was so caught up in him, I barely noticed Silver calling my name.
"Sonic. Sonic!"
"Huh?" I snapped out of my trance and turned to him. "What?"
He looked at where I just had my face fixed and said, "Why are you looking at Shadow?"
"Umm, no reason." I said, blushing faintly.
Silver paused, then gasped for a long and dramatic about of time.
"You have a crush on Shadow!" He said in a squeaky voice. Geez, Silver can be such a baby sometimes. I hid my head in my arms to mask the increasing amount of blush on my face.
"Dude, you should totally ask him to the prom!" He said with excitement. Silver has known I was gay for a while, but I never told him who my crush was.
"No way, I would get rejected for sure. And then he'll hate me."
"Well, you don't know that, just tr-" Silver was interrupted by the voice of a pink hedgehog sitting down at our table.
"Hey Silver. Hi Sonic~" Amy said as she sat down right next to me. There goes my chances of asking Shadow today.
Amy's had a crush on me for a while, but I've never really returned her feelings. She really wants to go to the Prom with me, though, and I don't know how to say no to her.
"Hey Amy, how's it going?" I asked.
"Great! Hey, did you guys know it's Promposal day? Yeah, three days before Prom is when Promposal day always is. I heard Scourge asked Fiona, and she said yes!" And, Amy officially chose the worst topic possible. I really didn't want her asking me, because I would have no Idea what to say. I don't really want to go with her, but I don't want to break her heart either.
"Yeah, I knew that." Silver said. "I was thinking about asking Blaze."
"Oh my God! That's awesome! Today would be the perfect day to do that, y'know." Amy cheered. I swear, that girl has more enthusiasm than mobianly possible.
"Look, there she is. Here's your chance to go ask her, Silver!" Amy whisper-yelled, pointing to Blaze as she was walking to her table. Silver slowly got up and walked to her. The table was in hearing-range, so me and Amy listened in on the conversation. Just before he reached her table, Silver said,
"Hi Blaze." Blaze looked at him and said, "Hello."
"Um, I was wondering, you're really cool and I was wondering if maybe you would like to go to Prom with me?" Silver said in a small voice. He was a bit shorter than her, so that didn't help his anxiety.
Blaze smiled. "Okay."
"Really?"
"Yes. I think you're cool as well." She chuckled. "It would be an honor to go to prom with you." She said, sitting down.
The girls at her table were extatic. And Silver was too. He rushed back to our table after saying goodbye to Blaze and sat down, covering his face.
"Dude, that was awesome!" Amy said, almost jumping out of her seat.
"Yeah, you did great." I said, with slightly less enthusiasm.
"Thanks, you guys," Silver said. "Ugh, I can't wait for Prom!"
Yeah, can't wait. I thought to myself. Until I realized that I have a crush who would never go to the prom with me.
"I have to go to the bathroom." I said, to get my mind off of him. As I was walking to the bathroom, so lost in my own thoughts that I wasn't looking where I was going and bumped right into someone, knocking him to the ground.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry," I said as I helped him pick up his stuff. "I just wasn't looking where I was going and..." I faltered out and froze when I saw who I had bumped into. It was Shadow. Oh my God, could I not get away for him for two seconds?!
There was an awkward silence where we just stared at each other, on the ground, in the middle of the courtyard. But he didn't look mad at me, he looked more confused, in a way.
I broke the science after what seemed like forever (but was probably just a few seconds), by handing him his stuff, saying sorry once more, and getting the heck out of there.
