The Prom (Sonadow)

Chapter 5

No P.O.V.

With only two days to the Prom, everyone was frantic to get ready. Renting limousines and tuxedos, booking tables at restaurants, and for Sonic, trying to figure out how to come out to his mother.

She might accept me. He thought, pacing in his room.

She totally won't accept me! Sonic started freaking out and panting. He picked up his phone and called Shadow.

"Hi Sonic, what do you need?" Shadow said when he picked up.

"Hey Shadow, I'm just really worried about tomorrow. What'll my mom do when she finds out?" Sonic replied.

"What's the worst she can do, Sonic?"

"Do you really want me to answer that?"

"Okay, fine. But you can't bail out now. it's too late for that."

"I know, I'm not. And thanks, Shadow. Just hearing your voice makes me feel calm."

"Shut up, you're making me want to gag."

Sonic laughed, and they talked for a little bit longer before saying goodbye for the night.

Friday night. Prom night. Everyone is getting busy with their hair or makeup or whatnot, including a certain blue hedgehog.

Sonic P.O.V.

"Oh, you look amazing!" My mom said, brushing my hair. I was wearing the light blue tux I rented on Wednesday.

"Mom," I said. "I just want to tell you that whatever happens tonight-"

"No, don't spoil this for me." She interrupted. "I have planned so hard for this night, do you know that? I have a right to enjoy it too."

I chuckled. "Right." Them smiled sadly, knowing that this knight will probably not go as planned for my mom.

"I only with you could have picked up a date." She said.

"Heh, actually, I did."

Her eyes widened, then she smiled widely.

"You did? Oh, that's great!" She said, then started bombarding me with questions like,

Is she pretty?

Nice?

Have you done it yet?

"Mom!" I yelled at the last question. My mom started laughing, but I was seriously weirded out.

"It's nothing to be ashamed of." She said.

"We haven't." I mumbled.

"Okay, well..." She checked her watch. "Oh, it looks like we'll be running a bit late. Go on and get in the car."

We got to the school, and I ran inside the gym before my mom, and was blinded by the flashing lights and loud music. Still, I immediately started looking for Shadow, and found him sitting on the bleachers. I ran up to him. He was wearing a dashing red tux that made him shine beautifully. I would have blushed if I wasn't so nervous.

"Hey." I said, sitting next to him.

"Hi." He replied.

We were silent for a few seconds. Then I said with a hint of fear,

"My mom should be coming in any moment now."

"Hey, you don't need to worry." Shadow said in a soothing voice that made me feel relaxed and calmer. "I sure she'll accept you."

I nodded. "Speak of the devil." I said, my gaze landing on my mom walking into the gym. She scanned for me, and walked over when she saw me.

"Hello, Sonic. Are you enjoying yourself?" My mom asked, and I nodded. "So, where's your date?" She said, looking around. I took a deep breath, and mentally prepared myself for what was going to happen next. I looked at Shadow, and he nodded. I slowly said,

"He's actually right here."

My mom looked like I had just hit her with a rock. "H-him?" She asked after a few seconds.

"Hi, i'm Shadow." He waved.

"Mom." I said, looking her in the eye. "I-i'm gay."

My mom was paralyzed for almost a whole minute. She then broke out of her shock and started frantically waving her finger at me.

"I have to go set up. We will talk about this when I get back." She said in a paralyzed voice, and I hesitantly nodded. She then walked into another room.

"Oh god, she's gonna kill me." I said in a scared tone, my face matching my feeling.

"Come on." Shadow said, jumping off the bleachers and holding out his hand for me to take. "I at least want to have some fun before you die."

Hey guys! I think I've given up on giving my 2 dozen peeps a name. Sorry this chapter is a little short, but I actually wrote this last night but I was too tired to upload it, so I'm doing it now. There will be one more chapter after this, then part 1 will be finished. But, since there's only 6 chapters so far, I'm not going to separate the stories, I'll just keep them both in this book. I'll tell you what I'm doing with the book next chapter.
