I woke up, not wanting to open my eyes. I felt that I was not in my own bed, and I remembered my dream, about meeting two gorgeous and nice boys. I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping that I would never wake up again. The dream seemed so real.
But I could not stay like that forever, so I finally open my eyes. I looked around; I was not in my room – I must still be dreaming.
I stood up, and looked outside the tiny window. I could see the house opposite was all dark. It must be midnight right now, I could only see with the aid of moonlight.
I quietly opened the door of the room. I remembered I had not set foot out of this room before. I glanced around, and there were two windows on the wall on the left. Right below it was a couple of chairs and a sofa, and a little wooden table. On the right of the room were three other rooms, one without a door. I narrowed my eyes, and could tell that it was a kitchen.
Near those doors stood a wooden dining table and a few chairs. And there were a bookcase, a huge cupboard, a fireplace, a guitar and a violin, all against the wall.
It was very quiet in the room. I walked around, and I heard soft snoring when I went near the sofa. Its back was facing me, and I went around to see who was there. It was John, sleeping soundly like an angel. I could tell he was John when I saw his soft, full lips. I wonder how it would feel to kiss him…
I kneeled down next to him, and watched him sleep. He looked so cute sleeping. Actually, he looked cute all the time.
I remembered how he had cared for me. And I still thought that it was a dream, so I could not resist leaning closer, closer to his lips…
“Who’s that?” John suddenly shot right up, looking frightened.
“Shh John! It’s me,” I whispered.
He looked at me, and blinked for a few times, looking confused, and patted the seat next to him, “Oh, hello (Yn),”
“Why do you look so confused?” I asked and sat down next to him.
“Well… I must be dreaming right? How come you are here? It is impossible for a beautiful girl like you to be at my place,” he said, smiling.
“I was thinking of the same thing when I woke up. How is it possible for me to get out of the castle?” I whispered, almost talking to myself.
“Pinch me,” John suddenly said.
“Why?”
“To prove that I’m not dreaming,” and John held out his arm.
“Are you serious?”
“Just do it,”
So I pinched him. He winced.
“So this is reality,” he said.
“I trust you then,”
Then we both fell silent, looking into each other’s eyes.
“Thank you, John, for everything. I feel so happy right now, really, out of the castle. I have been dreaming of living in town since I was little,” I told him.
“You’re welcome, and your appearance just makes my life much more interesting,”
“Where’s Edward by the way?”
“He’s in his room sleeping,” he pointed at the door closest to the one that I just walked out from.
“So why are you here?”
“Because… Well… You were sleeping in my room,”
“Oh, I’m sorry, you can go back to your room now, I’ll sleep here,” I said, feeling guilty – I barged into John’s life and he had to sacrifice for me, “And I’m not tired anymore, anyway.”
“It’s okay, that’s what gentlemen do,” he smiled, looking angelic.
I did not realize that we had leaned towards each other while talking. Our faces were just inches apart. John starred into my eyes intently, and looked down at my lips, then looked back up. He leaned in closer, and our lips touched.
That was my first ever kiss. It felt so good, so right. His lips felt as soft as they looked. Our lips moved against each other’s and I reached my arms around John’s neck to pull him closer. John responded by wrapping his strong arms around my waist. I felt John’s tongue grazed across my lower lip, so I parted my lips. Our kiss just got more and more passionate, and John lifted me up to sit me on his lap. It was becoming more intense, with John’s hands sliding down to my hips—
“John? (Yn)?” a voice called. We quickly broke our kiss, and turned to see Edward standing in his doorway. He looked shocked… And hurt.
“Edward? Why are you awake?” John said, still in a trance.
“I heard some noises so I came out,” he said in a low voice, and looked away. He bit his lower lip, and looked at us again.
“I guess I’ve interrupted something,” he said, staring at our bodies. I looked down, realizing that I was still sitting on John’s lap. I quickly got to my feet.
“Umm, John, I’m not tired anymore, so you can go and have your room back,” I said in a rush, trying to break the awkward silence.
“Okay, if you say so,” John said, getting up, winked at me and got into his room. I smiled.
When John had closed the door behind him, Edward looked at me. He walked towards me, grabbed my hand and sat me down. He sat next to me.
“So, (Yn)… I guess you and John are… Together?” Edward said.
“I don’t know,” I admitted, “We just met, and we just – I didn’t really know what happened.”
“I guess you’re not tired anymore?” Edward said, looking at me.
“Not anymore, I’ve been sleeping like a pig!”
“So do you mind if I take you somewhere?”
“What?”
“Come on,” Edward took my hand, and walked out of the house.
Cool breeze blew onto my face. Luckily I still had my cape on.
“Wow,” I could not help but gasped aloud – I was on the street, of the town! But every house was dark right now, with no light coming out. The whole town was asleep. I starred at the stone pavement, the brick houses, and the street lamps. I was finally seeing the town.
Edward looked at my expression and giggled. “Let’s go,” he said and guided me through the streets. We walked and walked, with me always studying the surroundings curiously. Finally, there were less and less houses, but more and more trees. We went through some thick bushes, and reached an opening. My mouth dropped open.
We were at a lake, which was as still as a mirror; I could see the reflection of the moon on the lake surface. There were trees surrounding the lake, and at my feet were many little white flowers.
“It’s beautiful,” I said.
“No, it’s not,” Edward said, staring at me.
I blushed, looking down at our linked hands, “Why are you taking me here?”
“Because I thought you’d like to see the world, after all, you escaped all the way from the castle!”
“Yes… And thank you,” I leaned in to kiss his cheek. But Edward acted so fast that he crushed his lips on my lips.
I thought it was wrong, for goodness sake, I just kissed his twin brother! My mind told me to pull away, but I just could not. Kissing him felt different to kissing John. Edward’s lips were still soft, but just different from John’s. And this kiss felt as good.
“Pull away, pull away! What are you doing?” my mind kept telling me.
But the feeling was so good. I kissed back but kept my arms at my side. Edward wrapped his less muscular arms around my whole body, crushing me to his chest.
“I like you, I really do,” Edward said in between kisses.
“Hmm-mm” I mumbled. I could not think straight, I was totally distracted. But Edward said he liked me!
At last we stopped kissing and gasped for air. “Am I a better kisser than John?” Edward asked playfully.
“Be serious okay! I feel so bad right now,” I said, covering my face with my hands.
Edward took my hands and put them in his left hand while stroking my face with the other, “So you like me too?”
“Yes…” I admitted, “But it’s not like I don’t like John, too.”
“I know… I just had to let you know that you still have an option besides John, and it’s possible to like two people at the same time… I don’t want to lose my chance,”
I sighed, “I guess we better get going, or John will be worried,”
On the way back, Edward suddenly said, “Do you know you’ve taken both mine and John’s first kisses?”
“Well… No. And John took mine,” I said, looking at Edward.
“What? John? It’s not fair, he’s got to get your first kiss!” Edward whined, “You have to give me one more kiss to make it fair!”
“But you kissed me longer!”
“No I insist to get a second kiss!”
“You’re too greed—”
But Edward would not let me finish my sentence. He grabbed my shoulders and kissed me. Again, I could not help but kissed back.
Suddenly I saw something moved out of the corner of my eye. I quickly broke the kiss, but Edward just pulled me by the neck to kiss me again.
“(Yn)? EDWARD?” that was John’s voice!
Edward ended the kiss this time. We both looked to the side, and saw John standing in the doorway of the house. He looked so hurt, and I instantly felt guilty. I had never felt so guilty in my life, not even when I accidentally broke the toy that Mother left behind for Rosary.
“John…” I walked towards him, and he quickly turned away to walk back into the house. He walked into his room and slammed his door.
“John? John? Listen to me please!” I knocked on his door. No reply.
“I’m sorry if I made you feel bad,” Edward called behind me, “Both you and (Yn). Please, let me talk with you.” Still not a sound.
“Maybe I’ll go in and talk with him, you wait outside,” Edward suggested, so I went over to sit at the sofa. I stared down at my hands – how could I be so horrible?
The wait seemed to drag on forever, and I felt bad for liking two people at the same time, and ruining the twins’ relationship.
Finally I heard the door being opened.
