I quickly turned around to see John and Edward walking out of the room. Neither of them looked sad or hurt. I raised an eyebrow at Edward questioningly.
“Well,” he said, sitting down next to me, and John sat beside be on the other side, “We’ve come to an agreement. You like both of us, right?”
“Umm… Yeah,” I admitted sheepishly.
“We agree that before you’ve decided on choosing me or Edward, we’ll fight for you. Both of us are not going to back down so easily,” John said, “And I’m sure I’ll win.”
“No, you loser! She’s going to be mine,” Edward protested.
“Wait!” I stopped their argument, “I don’t want to cause a fight between you two.”
“Relax,” Edward reassured me, “We’re not really going to ‘fight’, we’re just going to do our best and we won’t get angry at each other.”
“Promise?” I asked.
“Promise,” Edward said.
“We won’t make you sad by fighting like that,” John added.
“Okay, this is weird,” I said, “But I’m okay with it as long as I don’t cause trouble. Just suit yourself.” I stood up, and asked where the toilet was.
I stood in front of the basin, and starred into the bronze mirror hanging above it. “You shouldn’t have come here. You’re already causing too much trouble… Maybe you should go back,” I told myself. I debated whether or not to go back or just run away to find somewhere else to stay. But I did not think I could get that lucky again. How could I find someone as kind and welcoming as John and Edward?
I walked out of the bathroom, and saw the twins still sitting on the sofa chatting. I starred at their faces for a moment. They both looked like angels under the moonlight; I really could not bear the idea of hurting one of them.
“John… Edward…” I began, walking closer to them, and they looked up, “I think… I think I should go back. I don’t belong here. I don’t want it to end up with one of you getting hurt. I’m sorry. And thanks for everything.”
I turned around and headed to the front door, hoping that I would have the strength to walk out and I dared not to look back as one more second of doubt I would just run back into their arms.
Before I could reach the door, a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist holding me back. “Don’t go,” John whispered in my ears.
Edward stood in front of me, holding my hands, “(Yn), you are no trouble at all. We really, really love your presence,”
“But I’m causing a fight between you two! I’ll end up hurting one of you!” I replied.
“You think leaving us won’t hurt us?” John said.
“You’d hurt two people in that way!” Edward said, “Please, (Yn), no matter what, we promise you that we won’t turn against each other and the one that ends up not getting you will not hate the other one. Right John? You won’t hate me afterwards right?”
I could almost hear John rolling his eyes, “Just wait and see. I think you have a bigger chance of losing seeing that you’re always the stupid one,”
And I could not help but giggle. “Finally, you laugh!” Edward said, smiling at me.
“Are you sure you won’t hate each other?” I asked, being serious again.
“Yes!” “Yeah!” they said, and I could feel John’s arms tightened around my waist, and Edward grasped my hands tighter. No wonder they were twins; they did almost everything in unison.
“Okay, aren’t you two tired?” I asked again, “I thought I was the only one who was sleeping like the dead.”
“Now that you’ve brought it up, I’m a bit tired…” Edward said, yawning dramatically, “I used too much energy to kiss you. I was trying hard not to pass out.”
I blushed, and John said, “Me too, I guess I’ll sleep now,” he released me, and started to retreat to his room.
“Want to join me?” Edward asked, and winked at me.
I blushed; John quickly turned around and yelled, “Edward! It’s not fair!”
“I didn’t agree on fighting fair,”
“No way!”
“If you want it to be fair… Maybe you can sleep with both of us? Our beds are big enough I guess…”
“Edward!” I hit him playfully on the arm, “Shut up!”
“(Yn), it’s actually a good idea,” John said, walking back towards us again.
“No! It’s too weird! And embarrassing – what if people know about it?”
“No one’s going to know about it as long as we don’t slip – come on,” Edward took my hand, and pulled me into his room, with John following behind.
Edward’s room looked more or less the same as John’s, just like how they looked. It was almost identical.
Edward pulled me down on the bed with him, and John joined in.
“This is weird, you two sleep here okay, I’ll go to John’s room,” I said, trying to get up.
“No! You don’t!” John said, pushing me back down.
“Hey! It’s like you two are trying to eat me!”
“I wish I could,” Edward said, smiling sweetly at me, as I was facing him, with John’s arm forming a cage around my waist, not letting me go, “I bet you’d taste sweet.”
“Stop it!”
“You’re funny,” John said, “Don’t respond to him so he won’t say it anymore. You see how childish he is? That’s why you should choose me.”
“Go to sleep, you two,” I said, rolling my eyes.
“I don’t think I can sleep, you’re just so fun! And it’s not fair why does John get to hug you like that?” Edward said, trying to pull John’s arms away.
“Stop it Edward!” John protested, “You’re already facing her!”
“Okay, I’m leaving,” I said, sitting up.
“No!” Edward jumped on me, pinning my hands by the sides of my head, and crushed his lips on mine.
“EDWARD!” John yelled, and pushed Edward away, “You’re cheating!”
“You did not say I cannot kiss her!”
“At least not in front of me okay!”
“It’s the same! And you’re going to stay by her side always so how do we get to be alone?”
“I don’t care! It’s not fair!” and John pulled me up to kiss me. I felt like a doll, being pushed around by the twin boys. But surprisingly, I did not find it disturbing. They were actually being funny.
“You just said I cannot kiss her in front of you!” Edward said, and pushed John away.
“I was just trying to be fair!”
“Cool it guys! Go to sleep!” I said, separating them with my arms.
“Whatever you say,” John said, and pulled me down with him.
“As long as I get to hold you too,” Edward said, lying down, facing me and wrapping his arms around my shoulder.
John kissed my ear, wrapping his arms around my waist.
Edward huffed, and kissed my nose, “Goodnight, (Yn),” and he closed his eyes.
“Goodnight,” John said, and yawned.
“Goodnight,” I said, and could not help smiling.
I began to feel tired. I was incredibly happy; I had never felt so good before. Slowly I fell asleep in the embrace of love.
