The Nematon

I gasped awake, my eyes glowing momentarily before dying down.

"Casey? You okay, squirt?" I turn and see my dad tied up behind me. We were tied to the same beam.

Wonderful.

"Where's the psychotic bitch? Actually, where the hell are we?" I asked him, and I heard a chuckle. I look over and see Scott's mom and Stiles's dad tied up as well, but they were okay.

"You just missed her. And I've been here before. A long time ago." My dad said, and I look around to see that we were underground, noticing the large roots in here.

I immediately felt the weird vibe that this place was giving off. I felt, I don't know, a strange connection to this place. But why?

"What is this place?" I asked him.

"It's called the nematon. It was once a large tree, but was cut down sometime ago." He told me.

"This place... it feels strangely familiar. I can feel it." I open my palm and let my hand touch the dirt ground, feeling the energy that this place was giving off, but it was dim. It was like an ember waiting for a spark to help it ignite.

"Did you say it was a large tree?" I ask him again, thinking back to the tree I painted in art class yesterday, and to the ones that I've been drawing lately in my sketchbook. Now that I think of it, they were all the same.

"Yeah. It was a pretty old too. Why?"

"Because I've been drawing trees lately." I said.

"What's wrong with drawing trees?" Ms. Scott asked me.

"When you've been drawing the same one over and over." I point out, and her eyes widen. "I painted it in art class yesterday, Jocelyn said it looked familiar, maybe one of her ancestors drew it or something. I feel a connection to this place, Dad. It's weak, but it's there. For whatever reason Jennifer took me, this might've been part of it."

"Looks like somebody's finally awake." I turn, squinting my eyes when a ray of sun hit my face.

"Oh, no. The bitch is back." I said when I saw Jennifer coming down, and my dad tried not to laugh.

"That mouth of yours is going to get you killed one day. And lucky for you, that day is tomorrow. You know, the reason for me killing you is because of your power, but also because of your connection to this place. It's been calling out to you, hasn't it?" She asked with a smirk on her face, and I stayed silent. She kneeled down to look at me. "You look just like her. The same dirty blonde hair, that smile. You've even got her fire."

"What are you talking about?" I asked her, and she snickered.

"Right. You don't know." She said, and I look at her strangely.

"Know what?"

"Casey? Casey, don't listen to her." Dad tells me.

"Listen to your father, Casey. She's insane." Sheriff Stilinski added, and I glare at the bitch.

"I don't care what you know or what I don't. All I know is that you won't win." I said to her, and she shook her head.

"Sure I will. Because once I sacrifice you, I'll have enough power to take down Deucalion." She brings her hand up to me, lifting my pendant to get a closer look at it.

I look at her before focusing my energy, wanting her to hurt. She suddenly let out a pained cry, and my lips curl into a devilish smirk as her blood began to boil.

"Casey, don't! You're not want Gerard wants you to be. You're not a killer." Dad tells me, and I let her go. He's right, I'm not a killer.

"Maybe I've underestimated you. You are powerful. I can't wait to kill you." She said, getting up from the ground and I just stared at her stoically. "Have a nice nap."

That was the last thing I heard before the world went black.

-

"So, my son tried to give me a brief description about what you are. Mind telling me the rest?" The sheriff asked me when fifteen minutes had passed since I woke up.

"I'm called the silver-eyed elemental because I can control all of them, even the rare ones. According to Jocelyn, we're born, not bitten. She says it's because we're a part of the earth- it's energy, while being bitten changes your DNA. It's not natural, and so it goes against the laws of nature." I told him, and he nodded.

"So how come you're an elemental while your sister and the rest of your family are human?" Ms. McCall asked me and I looked down, not knowing what to tell her.

"I don't know, and neither does my dad. Like Jocelyn said, we're born. So someone in my family must have carried the gene, I'm not really sure. I'm still learning about what I am and my elemental background, and maybe one day I'll finally get the answers that I'm looking for. Maybe like who was the last silver-eyed elemental before me? Why does Jennifer know her? What's real about me? What's a myth?" I said to her, biting my lip. "There's so much I still don't know, and I just want to find out who I really am."

"You're my daughter. That's who you've always been, Casey. Don't let Jennifer's words bother you." Dad said to me, and I smiled.

"Thanks, Dad. And I know, I'm an Argent, but I'm also something else. I'm not just a hunter, and I never will be." I told him, and he didn't say anything. We all sat in silence after that, and I use my finger to draw circles in the dirt since I can't see with my hands tied behind my back.

I stare at my feet, wiggling them a bit in boredom before letting out a cry. I felt my eyes burn, not even realizing that my necklace was glowing as well.

"Casey? Casey, what's wrong? Casey!" My dad yelled, squirming around in an attempt to get to me, but I didn't answer.

I felt like a part of me just died. It felt like something was being torn away from me, but only being held by a strand of thread. That connection I've been feeling... it's like it's withering. Like it's dying, and it hurts.

"Casey!" My dad called my name again and a tear falls down my cheek.

"I feel like a part of me just died." I finally said. "That strong connection I've been feeling, it's like it's dying. And it hurts. I don't know who it is, or why we have this strange connection to each other, but they're dying. And I just have this feeling that if they die, it'll break me."
