"Did you have any trouble with Ikeda?" Dad asked Deaton through the phone. He and Derek are still at the police station, and we have no idea when they're going to be released.
"Only minor. The white wolf was exactly where you said it would be. But we have two problems now. First, the lichen is not a cure. It'll wear off in a matter of days." Deaton said to him and us.
"But while it does work, the oni won't go after Stiles, right?" Dad asked him.
"I hope." He says. "Eichen House has an unusual history. It might be all that safe for the oni there as well."
"What's the second problem?"
"I checked with your contacts in Japan. The yakuza boss you saw killed by the oni never found the scroll." He said, and I wondered what he was talking about.
"What scroll?" I asked him.
"A Shugendo Scroll. The Shugendo were the ascetic mystics of Japan."
"The scroll had information on how to exorcise a nogitsune." Dad said, and now I saw the problem.
"So we need to find that scroll?" Scott asked just to make sure.
"Exactly," Deaton confirmed. "And I did get a name of the man who last purchased it. Kincaid."
My hands curled into fists when he said that name because like my dad and my sister, I knew exactly who that son of a bitch was.
"You got to be kidding me. He was with Katashi." I said, remembering the tall, brooding werewolf.
"He's the guy who met with Isaac to buy the gun," Allison added in.
"Sounds like Katashi wanted the scroll for himself." He said.
"But Stilinski already told me nothing like it was found among his things. And a paranoid like Katashi would keep it close. Probably on him at all times." Dad said, and I started to think. If it was so important then I doubt he would have just put it anywhere. He would have hidden it most likely, so that's why it wasn't found with his things.
"What does a Shugendo Scroll look like?" Allison asked Deaton, and he got up out of his chair, taking a scroll out of his metal drawer that he kept under his file separator.
"Something like this." He handed it off to my sister and that's when it clicked.
"Can't scrolls come in different sizes?" I asked him, even if I already knew the answer myself. I just needed to be sure.
"Any size." He said in response, and my sister and I look at each other, having already figured out where the scroll could be.
"Then I think we know where it might be."
-
Allison opened the door when our friends and the twins got here and I smiled at them.
"My father said all of the Katashi evidence is being moved to a federal lockup by an armored car tonight. Probably within the next few hours." Allison informed them as we walked into our dad's study.
"We're going to rob an armored car?" Ethan asked us in disbelief.
"Well, we're going to try." Lydia said, and I just hoped that everything would work out tonight.
-
"This is a really bad plan," Scott said, and I look at him.
"You got a better one, Scotty?" I asked him, and he put his hands up in defense.
"It's not that bad," Lydia said, but I could just tell by the sound of her voice that she agreed with him.
"It's not that good." Ethan voiced his opinion.
